I live in Villa Madero, a small neighbourhood, which is located in La Matanza district and borders with General Paz Avenue.Villa Madero is a really peaceful place because it is a small area, so there aren’t many people and as a consequence, there isn’t much traffic.There is a small and shabby police station and sometimes it can be seen some police officers, who are looking after some streets. The place is surrounded by charming and cosy bungalows mostly. However, there are some modern five storeys buildings on the main avenues, which are two: Crovara and Velez Sarsfield Avenue. On crovara Avenue, there is a huge shopping centre, where you can buy a variety of different products. Shops are like apples and oranges so you can buy any luxurious or tacky good you can imagine, whereas, on Velez Sarsfield avenue, there are magnificent high storey buildings mostly and some shops such as small sport centres, some luxurious hair dresser’s and two cosy bars. It is quite interesting the the type of buildings you can find in Villa Madero. Most of them are family bungalows, as it was described before. Apart from this, as the first citizens from Villa Madero used to be Italian people, it can be found really ancient houses, which in fact, were built by themselves. Some of them still remain habitable. However, there are other houses in such run-down and filthy conditions that they should be pulled down. On the other hand, population has increased in Villa Madero, so some modern and high buildings had to be built. Some of them are really expensive and imposing block of flats, which have huge and airy balconies with impressive sights. Most of them have three or four spacious rooms where a four-member family can live. As villa Madero is near General paz Avenue, it is quite easy to get to the capital city. There is a good number of line buses, for instance: 92 bus, 103 bus, 126 bus, 185 bus and 630 bus, which are the most important ones among others.

There are some drawbacks about Villa Madero as well. If people want to go to the cinema or eat out at a spacious restaurant, they have to go to other places, like San Justo or Flores, which are the nearest areas to enjoy these type of facilities. Moreover, people should do all the shopping they need by Saturday or Sunday morning, otherwise they won’t find any shop open then. As all of them are closed, Sundays turn to be rather gloomy and deserted, particularly in Winter, when all the inhabitants stay inside their houses because of the low temperatures. In summer, however, streets are full of live, as there are a lot people strolling and children usually play in the road.

I live in one storey building, which is surrounded by other charming family bungalows. Fortunately, the sewage system and the electricity supply work quite properly in this area. What does not happen in other places, where people suffer a lot of floods, for instance. The block is quite clean, with a huge number of lamp- posts. There aren't many shops near my house. Only two markets and some green grocer’s. In the afternoon, you can find a really peaceful environment on the streets, as people who stay at home tend to have a nap and the few shops are closed till five p.m. I live two blocks away from the police station so it is quite common to see police officers driving the police cars around the nearest blocks, especially in the evening.

My grandfather left a part of his land to my mum when she got married.Then, with a lot of effort, my parents built a four-room house.When you enter it, the first place you find is a quite spacious yard. on the left, there are some ordinary flowers and a Ficus tree, whereas on the right, the floor is paved with squared, grey tiles. The land is divided from the neighbour's land by a long white, concrete wall. You go along a  paved passage and on the left, you find the entrance door. When you come in you find the dining room and the kitchen, which are together in the same room. This place is quite spacious and long. At the back of the room, there is a quite modern kitchen with wood furniture and  orange tiles. As the marble work-top is rather small, most of the cutlery stuff is kept in the squared drawers below. On one of the walls, there is a new, white microwave hung and above,on the floor, it is the washing machine. This device is inside the house because the laundry room, which is in the back yard, is not covered. Next to the kitchen, there is a squared wood table with four black chairs with velveteen grey upholstery. There is also an old, long, wood piece of furniture where we place the telephone, the TV and radio set. There is also an artificial log fire, that helps us keep warm in winter. Next to the entrance door, there is another door, which leads to two rooms: my mum’s room and my brother’s room which is empty now as he does not live in my house. Inside my mum’s room, there is a white, wood double bed and an old, wood, french style wardrobe. Opposite the entrance door, there is a very small squared hall, where there are two doors. One of them lead to the bathroom and the other one to my bedroom. The bathroom is quite new. It has squared, beige tiles. there is a white bath, bidet,loo and a new sink.

My bedroom is quite spacious. The walls are painted in white. there is a single bed with a pink cover on it. Next to it there is a small, wood bookshelf with some English books and Primary teaching material. There is also a black, rectangular table and a small black table for the computer. There is a small window with dark pink curtains. Opposite the bed, there is an old TV set. There is also a huge, beige wardrobe.However, I only use half of it to keep clothes. I should buy a new mattress and a pillow as the ones I have are really old. In summer, the bedroom is rather hot, so I should buy an air conditioner. The problem is that using air conditioner makes me have cough and get flu. My bedroom is my favourite place as it is the room where I do most of my activities. I have bought a huge black table to use it as a desk. I find really comfortable because I can place different materials I need on it while I'm working or studying. There is also a computer table, which I painted myself black, next to the desk. I also have a TV set opposite the bed, so sometimes at weekends, I watch tv while I’m on bed, which I find it really relaxing. I also have enough space to keep material from the English teaching course and Primary teaching materials, such as books and copies. I like to do the cleaning as I place the objects I have the way I find it more suitable for me.
