It is mainly used to attract viewers attention and draw them into buying their product. For example: Fifa 18, EA show a good trailer when in fact it's false marketing and not worth your money.

The adverts featured animated meerkats and centered on the fictional confusion between the websites "Compare the Market .com" and Compare the Meerkat .com"

The adverts were a huge success and the character Alexander Orlov from those ads is now widely recognised. The adverts were even popular enough that stuffed toys and a short book were released based on them.
