Holding a class is an unforgettable experience in the process of training us as students who aspire to become foreign language teachers. This experience not only represents the application of theories and methodologies learned in the classroom, but it is also a great opportunity to develop practical skills and reflect on teaching.

From the moment we plan the class, we as future teachers are faced with important decisions such as: choosing the right content, selecting dynamic activities that manage to attract the attention of the attendees. This planning process allowed us to experience the creativity and responsibility that comes with being an educator.

During the execution of the class, every interaction with students becomes invaluable learning. Observing how students react to activities, adjusting the pace of the lesson according to their understanding, and fostering a participatory environment are all aspects that enrich the teaching experience. In addition, facing challenges such as time management or different group dynamics helps to strengthen skills such as improvisation and adaptability.

At the end of the class, critical reflection becomes a tool of great value. Assessing what worked well and what could be improved not only contributes to the professional growth of our educational process as future teachers, but also encourages a continuous learning approach.

In short, conducting a class is much more than simply teaching content; It is a transformative experience that trains competent future teachers who are passionate about teaching foreign languages. Each class becomes a step towards developing a career dedicated to inspiring others to learn and communicate in English, thus opening doors to a multicultural and interconnected world.

Based on the previous questions, I can reflect that the role of the teacher goes far beyond simply transmitting knowledge. Knowing different teaching methods and approaches not only enriches pedagogical practice, but also allows for a more effective response to the needs and particularities of each student. Likewise, identifying issues such as the fear of participating in class invites us to rethink our strategies and to build safer and more motivating learning environments. Ultimately, being a good teacher involves a constant attitude of observation, analysis, and adaptation, with the goal of creating truly meaningful and inclusive educational experiences.

This course had a profound and significant influence on our formative process, as it allowed us to explore in detail the various teaching methods available in the educational field. Through its study, we understood not only their theoretical foundations, but also their practical application in the classroom. We analyzed how each approach impacts learning dynamics, student participation and skill development differently. In addition, we learned to identify which of these methods best fits the individual learning styles of our students, allowing us to plan more effective, inclusive and personalized educational experiences.

Why is it important for a teacher to know different methods and approaches?

It is essential for a teacher to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of various teaching methods and approaches, as this allows him/her to effectively address the wide diversity of learning styles that coexist in the classroom. Each student has different ways of understanding, processing and applying information, so having a varied repertoire of pedagogical strategies facilitates the creation of more inclusive, personalized and meaningful learning experiences. This methodological versatility not only favors greater student participation and motivation, but also gives teachers the ability to flexibly adapt to different contexts, content and situations. In addition, by exploring and applying different approaches, the educator becomes a more critical professional.

What research problem did you identify during your observational teaching practice?

During my observational teaching practice, one of the most evident research problems was the students' fear of actively participating in class. This phenomenon, although common, represents a significant barrier to effective learning and the overall development of the students. Throughout the observed sessions, it became clear that many students avoided answering questions, sharing ideas, or engaging in discussions for fear of making mistakes, being judged by their peers, or receiving negative feedback from the teacher.

This issue is manifested through behaviors such as constant silence, lack of initiative, and an excessive reliance on the teacher’s instructions. From a pedagogical perspective, this situation not only limits participation but also hinders the development of communication skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence within the school environment.
