Many symbols were adopted partly to represent many without only showing the few but also as queer dog whistles letting other queers know each other. Such as lavender and double sided axe for lesbians. 

The most famous of this iconography is the pink triangle, a symbol reclaimed from the nazis

I really like the style of these, the strong bold words and block imagery reminiscent of the bold slogans of earlier protests. With punk and street culture being a large part of the queer community badges, dog tags and patches were ways of showing resistance in an everyday sense by having them on your clothes. A lot of them were also a way of funding queer charities and safe spaces allowing for life saving work in the community.

The badges range from very bold saying 'keep it gay', 'punk fag' etc to more obscure ones with messages only supposed to be recognisable to other queer people for when it wasn't safe for them to be out.
