Will discovers at the Hobbs residence that it was Hannibal who killed all these people, not him. Will draws a gun on him, now that he's realized he's in the presence of the Chesapeake Ripper. At the last second, Jack Crawford enters and shoots Will in the shoulder, assuring Hannibal's safety from Will's "murderous" ways. After Will recovers completely, he is sent to a maximum-security jail for trial, and Hannibal pays him a visit.
