Authors/artists/producers want children to learn about inclusion and the importance of treating others with respect. These developers are really trying to introduce the social behaviors about inclusion of everyone through what children read, watch and play with. Allowing this theme to be shown through so many aspects of childrens' lives allows it to really develop thoroughly within children which will hopefully stick with them as they grow up. Surrounding children with inclusive, respectful shows/books/toys etc. allows children to learn and incorporate that behavior in their own lives at an early age, especially while their brain is still growing and developing. These artists/authors are trying to tell children that everyone has differences and is unique and they should appreciate the differences of others and treat them how they want to be treated, with respect and dignity. Recently, authors/producers/developers have aimed to make movies, toys, books, etc. to be more diverse which means including other cultures within their products. This helps with the idea of inclusion among all and being friends with everyone. Especially when children are younger, it can sometimes be hard for them to make friends due to differences in agreement and social aspects. It is important for them to learn that skin color, religion and other cultural aspects of a person are not something that should keep children from being friends. Surrounding yourself with people who make you a better person, are similar to you in personality and support you are real aspects of true friendship. By including diversity in the products of developers, they are teaching children that what is important about a person is not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside: their heart and personality.
