Farming produced tons of food with absolute efficiency. But the nomadic people also had advantages. Settlers felt comfortable in their potentially permanent home, so if a natural disaster occurred at their camp, people would be less prepared to evacuate. On the other hand,  nomads could easily escape a natural disaster because they already move all the time. Also, farming requires hours and hours of labor, while hunting needs less work.
