Advertising can influence a teen's behavior in multiple ways, including how the child acts as well as her spending habits. On page 9, it explains, "For example, the child development experts at the Healthy Children website note that cigarette ads can negatively influence a teen's ideas and thoughts when it comes to smoking." Without parents or adults avoiding children from engaging in risky behavior, teen smoking can make this unhealthful habit seem acceptable or even appealing. Advertising can also change the way a teen chooses to spend money. Regardless of who's money is, teens are more interested on spending money on almost over anything.

School is apart of society that puts a large amount influence on teens. Every high school setting is different in some way which either accepts or disregards certain behaviors. Previous views from children change once they get to high school.

For example, if the popular crowd believes that cool girls shouldn't get good grades, you might start to take up behaviors that lead to poor grades.

As children grow, they become more aware of laws of society. On page 11 it explains, " This knowledge might help teens to think twice before engaging in risky or illegal activities such as underage drinking, drug use or drinking and driving." This might not prevent behaviors but will have teens think harder about their choices.

As teens get older, they gain rights and privileges along with increased responsibilities. High school students should have all the materials they need without expecting it from others. This is part of planning ahead and self-discipline.

One of the hardest behaviors for students is considering the consequences of their actions and being accountable for their words, actions and attitude. Another responsibility is setting a good example, especially younger students and siblings.

High school teens should be loyal, stand up for family, friends and country, and strive to do the right thing.

First and foremost, teens should have compassion for themselves. On page 12 it explains, "According to Live Science, self-compassion leads to greater resiliency, more energy, creativity and success in life." Once they have learned self-compassion, it is easier to care and show kindness to others.

Citizenship goes beyond the high school to society. Part of good citizenship is to follow the rules and laws of society and respect authority. Students should get involved in their school and community and volunteer to improve both.
