He begins to make progress in understanding the Tarmarian way of speaking. They realize that the Tarmarians speak in imagery. They use imagery to communicate & it is based on historical contexts from their culture. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to communicate with them because frame of reference is missing. Unfortunately, the Captain of the Tamarians did not survive, but he message did.
