I thought that it was going to go worse then it actually did. As i continued to practice I got better and better and eventually even went 2 years undefeated in any tournament.

One quest that I can say that I have been on is attempting to learn another language. I understand that it is taught in school, but so much outside work is necessary to become fluent. Starting in elementary school, I started teaching myself the language, as well as using my online resources. It has be tough to follow along and do the work, but now I can say that I am on track. I am learning the language in school as well as doing a ton at home. Learning itself is its own quest, and I am always working to be more knowledgeable in all subjects.

At the beginning of quarentine, we didnt have to do school. After school started, it was very hard to learn the routine or even how to approach it. It was hard to do 8 classes of work and manage to be in the meets at the exact time noted by the teacher. I felt overwhelmed and figured it was too much to do. After the next year started, I made it important to find a routine and start the routine right. I used every minute of spare time and provided class time, and it resulted in me having minimal work. I worked through it and a routine doing school work in the day and having lots of free time at night started to develop. Towards the end it was very easy and the same routine just kept supporting the whole way through the year.

injury recovery/Physical therapy

One quest that I have experienced in my life is the recovery journey of an injury. About a year ago I had experienced surgery on my foot after breaking it multiple times. Ever since that surgery I was told I would never have any more pain while participating in physical activity, however that was not the case. Every time I partake in physical activity I am in constant pain. I have learned my boundaries, experienced new pain levels, and even had to back track by starting physical therapy all over again. Recently I had started PT again and had to learn new exercises that would potentially strengthen my foot, and eliminate the revision of a second surgery. Through this whole experience I have learned that not everything may go as planned, and in order to achieve what you want, especially maintaining your health, you have to do what is best for you even if that means to start from the beginning all over again.

My quest was trying to make varsity as an underclassmen. Through the hard work and dedication of trying to make myself a better all around player, I learned that sometimes you are better than what you make yourself out to be. I was so nervous that I was not going to even make varsity, but right away, I started in the field, batted third, and by the end of the entire season, I was leading in batting average, fielding percentages, and was even recognized as one of the top players in the conference by making second team all star, getting defensive player of the year, and then making second team all star locally as well. In all, I learned that you can always exceed the prior goals you had set and you should never settle to just reach your goal. You should strive to go beyond it.

Ever since I was little, I always loved the snow, so I tried out snowboarding. I started when I was about 9 and when I say it is not easy to begin, it is definitely not easy. After about two years, I finally got the hang of it and began to go up to local ski resorts with my older brother and friends. I think because I was riding with such advanced people is the reason I got good pretty quickly. My family began to go on ski trips and it was hard for me to keep up. But as I practiced and practiced, I got good enough to be able to ride with whoever I want to and where ever I want to. Now, we go on trips out to colorado and vermont each winter and it is a blast.

My quest was to start eating healthy. Throughout my whole life I have pretty much eaten what ever I wanted, most of the time not being very healthy. Over the last year I have realized that I should start being concerned about what I was fueling my body with. The main part of eating healthy was to get rid of the unhealthy snacks and eat more fruits and vegetables. I have never been concerned about my weight, but more concerned about being healthier in general. Eating healthy helped me to respect what I felt more lively and healthier after starting to eat better foods and I feel like I respect my body much more.

One quest that I have experienced in my life is my pursuit of improvement in my favorite sport to play, golf. I started golfing around 3 years ago as a fun hobby that both my dad and I enjoyed. Eventually I realized that I wanted to take the sport seriously and began working and practicing in every way I could at the time. I went on to purchase a membership at a country club and went to golf nearly every day. Yesterday I had a match for the Altoona Golf team and I finally shot under 80 at 77. My goal has always been to break the score of 80 in tournament play and I accomplished it just yesterday.

Once, I had heard of a pepper called the Carolina Reaper, and I really wanted to try it, since it, at the time, was the hottest pepper in the world. I not only wanted to eat this pepper, but I also wanted to grow the plant with my family. So, after some searching, we'd found a place that sold the Reapers, where we'd bought a little plant and transplanted it into a bigger pot once we came home. After some months of growing the pepper plant, watering it every day, the plant finally started to produce its peppers, and, within a month or two after the first pepper came, there were many red peppers ready to pick. My family and I picked the peppers, and then we ate one. They are pretty spicy, and I wouldn't suggest it to someone who doesn't like spicy food, but it was oddly delicious. My family and I now eat some of it on our pizzas, and I got to check off "eating the hottest pepper in the world" off of my bucket list.

Caring about how you appear to others makes life not as fun and only causes more stress and worry. It is easier to put that energy towards other positive things in life. Having this outlook overall allowed me to be a more positive person and focus on what is actually important.

A quest I have experienced was learning to drive. Before my 16th birthday, I have always looked forward to getting to drive. As my birthday was coming up, I studied hard and even signed up for a Drivers Ed class for the next school year. I passed my permit test on the first try and was able to get my permit. I started learning by driving in an empty parking lot and slowly moved to bigger roads. Eventually I was able to get onto bigger roads with more traffic. I have learned so much and plan to keep on getting better.

A lot of times I've worried about something going wrong, yet more times than not the situation turned out well.

One quest that I have been working on and continue working on, is being more social. Throughout my life I have always been shy talking to people I don't know, especially adults. I wanted to change that when I was in about 7th grade. As soon as I turned 14, I got a job, I was determined to change my outlook on talking to others that I don't know. It has helped me tremendously throughout the years, I can now talk to other adults and some kids without being anxious and not wanting to speak to them. I can say I still do struggle a lot with talking to other kids my age that I don't know, but I've seen the progress of how I was before and how I am now.

I started taking karate classes whenever I was 7, and up until I was 14. At first I thought it would be lame, and only did it because my parents wanted me to. Eventually though, I started to appreciate it because it gave me the opportunity to make friends and to grow up with them, and even now I'm still friends with some of them. It obviously taught me self-defense, but it also taught a lot about respect and discipline. I probably wouldn't be who I am today or understand life as I do now if it weren't for those 7 years of classes. From this quest I learned that you shouldn't turn down an opportunity because it isn't seen as cool either by you or your friends, because it could turn out to teach you a lot, and help you grow as a person.

I was passing out all the time, in and out of the hospital, having bloodwork and EKGS done almost every week. After all of this, and after missing meets because I wasn't allowed to run them because of the health issues, I almost gave up on myself and my season and didn't even expect to run at districts because of how bad it got, but did end up running. However the day of districts, I felt really motivated out of nowhere and ended up qualifying for State Championships for the second year in a row.

In my 16 years of living I have been nearly inseparable with my brother. We were always the closest in my family and he was one person to me that I felt I could share anything with. Recently he left for college and is creating his own beginnings to his own life. I am more than excited for him to become his own identity but it doesn't mean it isn't difficult for me to cope with. I didn't have too many after school activities aside from work and homework so when we saw each other we went out and explored things. We would spend hours driving around close cities trying to kill spare time and see things. Now that he is gone I have a need to try to fill that time with equally thrilling adventures I have yet to find on my own time

Throughout my life I have had many interests, I pick up hobbies very easily, and I have always wanted to know how to do as many things as possible and how they worked. It became apparent to me in 6th grade that I had no clue what I wanted to actually do with my life. At first I wanted to go to Harvard because I am smart and I knew that going to Harvard was impressive, but I didn't know what I wanted to study. Then I found out what I wanted to study, which was forensic anthropology because my favorite show is bones and it seemed fun. But then I started to think logically and realized that there are not many jobs available for forensic anthropologists. I wanted to be a painter, a photographer, a journalist, a writer, and many other things and then I finally found it out. Not even a couple months ago I decided that I wanted to be a tattoo artist based in New York. That way I can do what I love, art, I can be close to my parents, and I can make good money.

I have a hard time actually getting my work done. I mean I procrastinate a lot, more than I should. I always get it done, it always looks my best, but I'll do it at 11 p.m. with a bad work ethic and that makes it last hours. I mean even in this first week, I put off like 3 assignments and now I have to cram them all today or tomorrow. I just make things harder on myself. Even if I don't procrastinate, I'm not always the best at figuring out HOW to do my work. How should I study? Flashcards? Should I cram the whole chapter? Study sets? Annotation? The thought of even dealing with all that stresses me out, but I always get through my work one way or another. I have a simpler method to dealing with all this, I make a schedule of work I need to do, Books I need to have, how long it will take me. And I space it out so it's all finished one or two nights before it's due so I'm not here staying up till 3 in the morning doing algebra like I was freshmen year.
