Ada Smith was an ordinary girl, but she had a twisted foot (her club foot). Ada’s mom was really mean to her, but when the bombs come to London she sneaks out with her brother Jamie. They get “adopted” by Susan Smith and she was really nice to them. For probably about 10 months they stayed with Susan, then her mom makes them go home. They don’t want to go home but, there mom takes them cause she doesn’t want to pay the government money to take her kids away. When Ada and Jamie try to sneak out again the bombs come to London and they find Susan there care taker on the street looking for them. They go to Susan's house and their all happy except for while they were gone Susan’s house was bombed.

Conner, Alex’s twin brother is going on a school trip with other people(6 girls) to see 3 “new” Fairy tales. When Conner realizes that he wrote two of the stories for his teacher and one that is a clue that there is going to be a war in The Land of Stories, he calls Alex. When she doesn’t pick up, Mother Goose does. Mother Goose asked Conner a favor to check if the portal to The Land of Stories is open, “ Mother Goose said, ‘ But there is a chance the portal between the worlds may be…re-opened…we’ll know for sure is if we check whether or not the portal is working’”( Colfer 171). When he’s done talking his “friend” Bree was eavesdropping on the whole conversation. So he goes with her to the destination at the castle. They meet their friend named Emmerich and he takes them into the castle and finds out that the portal is half way open and accidentally gointo the portal. The Soldiers go and recruit more soldiers to join the army. One is The Masked Man. They go and get a dragon and raise it while The Fairy’s find more people for their army.

This story starts off with the main action. Wyatt, the main character falls off the boat. Then, we see a flashback to earlier in the day when the guide, Brody, is going over the safety rules. During these instructions, Wyatt and his brother are talking about how cool it would be if they did fall off. Wyatt’s brother Johnny whispers to him, “Wouldn’t it it be awesome to fall in?” (Robie 2). Their dad tells them to pay attention and they listen to the rest of the talk. Then they go whitewater rafting. During the trip, they save another raft, causing them to go into heavy rapids. Wyatt falls off, but remembers the safety instructions and is able to safely swim to the other boat.

I give this book 4 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because of the short story. Second, for the quick and easy plot. Third, for the details of the characters. Forth, for interesting Setting. The characters were also kind of mischievous because, “ Dad had shushed them, making it clear they should be listening to the guide”(Robie 2). I think this book was ok.

This was one of my favorite quotes of the book, “‘Oh, you don’t speak English—DO NOT FEAR, I COME IN PEACE!’ he shouted with large gestures.”(Colfer 277). The book was so good and the story was so detailed. I could imagine the story in my easily. Newcomers to the story would be interested in all the story. Finally the incredible content. I loved the book.
