<title>8/8/18 - Today was a low-stress day. We discussed what is listed on the syllabus, and those who had the student/parent agreement signed turned that sheet in and taped the syllabus on pg.5 of their interactive notebook. The students also took a pre-test, which will help me know what strengths and weaknesses to address this semester. No homework for tonight.</title>

The students are responsible for answering the back of the worksheet for homework. We also looked at the properties of temperature and thickness of the various layers using a graphing calculator. The quiz has been moved to Thursday as more exploration of the layers is available to investigate.</title>

<title>8/29/18 - We have had a busy week. A worksheet on Earth&#39;s Interior was provided last Friday as additional assistance w/ understanding the various layers of the Earth. The following vocabulary words were give out Friday of last week and Monday of this week to put in the back of the interactive notebook: convection currents, density, mineral, crystal and inorganic. The definition for inorganic - composed of matter other than plant or animal, and does not contain carbon. We performed an Avocado lab yesterday to simulate drilling through the Earth&#39;s crust to the mantle. Ask your student what they learned from this activity. We continued talking about yesterday&#39;s experiment and those who made less than an 80 on last week&#39;s quiz took a re-take today. We will move forward to the unit on Plate Tectonics tomorrow. We will continue to review the layers of the Earth as well.</title>
