I believe the 10th commandment of computer ethics is violated most often by students. The use of a computer and the endless resources made available through one has lead many to exhibit behaviors that lack good morals, consideration, and respect for others. For instance, cyber bullying exists across all social media platforms, hacking is a frequent issue, plagiarism of ideas found online continues to occur, and much more. These actions show the opposite of both consideration and respect for others.

These violations occur due to individuals taking advantage of what is made available to them and being unethical with their actions. Those who violate these computer ethics lack significant morals that every person should have. Although it may be accessible to indulge in behaviors that violate these commandments and take computers and resources for granted, it should be made aware to all of why many actions are morally and ethically incorrect and of the hurt and damage it can create.

Thou shalt not interfere with other people's computer work
Thou shalt not snoop around in other people's computer files
Thou shalt not use a computer to steal
Thou shalt not use a computer to bear false witness
Thou shalt not copy or use proprietary software for which you have not paid
Thou shalt not use other people's computer resources without authorization or proper compensation
Thou shalt not appropriate other people's intellectual output
Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or the system you are designing
Thou shalt always use a computer in ways that ensure consideration and respect for your fellow humans

To reduce or eliminate unethical behavior, the ten commandments of computer ethics should first be reinforced to all along with educating individuals about morally correct behavior. Many may fail to realize that these commandments exist, let alone understand the significance of them. To address those who still choose to go against them, it is important to reprimand these unethical actions so that no one's ill behavior goes without consequence.
