As stated before it can be the encouragement one may needs to start on their journey of smoking cessation. Unfortunately, smoking does not care who you are or where you came from. According to CDC, in 2022, 49.2 million people reported tobacco use in the U.S., (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2024).

My overall experience while gather information on social media and other sources on smoking cessation was great. All the information found was easily accessible with even more information readily available from reliable sources with a quick Google search. All the information gathered can be used to compile a nice pamphlet of information for anyone looking to quit smoking. Having all the information gathered in one easily accessible are will give anyone looking for information a range of risk, benefits, tips, and tricks on how to deal with their cravings and withdrawals. With all the information presented from the artifacts, when discussing similar topics, the information was relatively the same. There was no outstanding information that contraindicated itself. Working as a Registered Nurse in the Pittsburgh area, my main takeaway on using social media for information on smoking cessation is that it is beneficial, but I would still recommend making sure all your information comes from a reliable source and discussing your journey with a healthcare provider who can assist you in your journey of smoking cessation. Social media is not always the best place to get medical advice and at least if you are discussing it with your healthcare provider, you can confirm the information you have learned on social media and have any incorrect information educated and rectified. While learning more about smoking cessation throughout this assignment, I will use the knowledge gained to educate my patients on smoking cessation.
