Both can be integrated - we should be aware of their expectations, but as professionals with experience, we've learned how individuals react to different forms of feedback.

Also need to consider things like confidence and morale and how these things contribute to the overall class experience - even if they don't necessarily drive results.

During a short course like OPSE, it can be hard to strike a balance.

On the one hand you want to promote learner autonomy, which is a skill they will need for their studies in the UK. This might lead the teacher to conclude that indirect feedback is more effective.

However, a relative lack of time may also cause the teacher to feel that direct feedback is more economical and efficient.

The key is probably to combine these approaches, depending on the activity, type of error, and objective in providing the feedback.

Due to time constraints it isn't always possible to give indirect feedback to the students and may lead to them being uninterested and not willing to spend the time self correcting
