This is true because when covering music or playing your own music, each time music is played it is different. People want to try new things or try to play it exactly how it was written but it is never portrayed the same. One director conducts different than the other and one artist can interpret the music in different ways.

In this chapter Ratliff talked about how music is never played the same twice. That is what is cool about music. Also in one piece of music the composer writes a repeat of the same melody and/or words. With the repeat it saves paper and it gives a bit more meaning behind why that melody means so much to the piece.

Just like the video in class talking about how people may play the same song, but no one can play it the same as one another. With the video i thought it was cool when some of the competitors played the same song and the traditions between each pianist, you could really tell the difference between their playing types. The pianists all had different techniques some were really emotional and some had soft relaxed hands. Like the commotion said it wasn't about who was the best, but about who is more ready for the next stage.

Similar rhyme scheme throughout the song. At the the beginning of the song he repeats himself saying "Somewhere between (blank) and (blank)" meaning he's not here and he's not there he is just somewhere in the middle. Then he moves on to say "what more can I say now?" because he is trying to make something better of himself and there isn't much more he can do then what he is trying to accomplish. Trying but he is still the "Furthest Thing" from what he is trying to make happen.

And all of these people are looking for her, but since now she can't trust anyone she has changed and she is nowhere to be found. Nice Taylor is no more. They have pushed her into turning into something they don't want her to be.

“The stubborn note is bossy; it takes you over. It puts you on notice. It is a marker, a reminder: wake up, get free of your momentum, you have somewhere to be right now. The difference between this and true repetition is that repetition puts a spell on you. The stubborn note takes a spell off you.” (Ben Ratliff. Every Song Ever. Page 91.)

Like I said in my explanation about repetition it plays in your head and is catchy to remember. Repetition is catchy that's why I picked the two songs that I did. Catchy sells and catchy is what makes the music charts. Without a catchy beat or catchy melody no one is going to listen. With the Taylor Swift song it plays on every radio station about 3 times an hour, people say they hate it, but the lyrics are so limited it is easy to learn and catch on.
