(2) I choose this book because I remembered hearing the story of the girl and wanting to learn more about it.
(3) The story is about a young girl by the name of Malala Yousafzai who lived in Pakistan a country where many children, especially little girls, don't get to ever go to school. She built a platform and began to speak out against the people that stopped these children from learning. This lead to her becoming a very well known person in her home country, to some a bad person but to some a good one. Eventually the Taliban, which runs the swat valley of which resides, decides to attack her for her many rights shes done. The book goes on to explain her life after the fact and how she grew from the very gruesome experience.
(4) The author uses setting to help the reader better understand the severity of the situation. The author also uses conflict to describe the battle between her and the Taliban.

3. So basically, the story was about a young Muslim girl who was fight for the right for women to receive an education. She lived in the the swat valley and was run over by the Taliban. She was shot in the head at point blank range when she was on the bus coming back from school. This book talks about her recovering and also how her getting shot in the head didn't change about she felt about girls needing an education.

2. I selected this book because I was interested in learning about the lifestyle of an Olympian. 
3. This book is primarily about the life of Joe Rantz and the story of how he and his teammates got to the Olympics. 
There were many times where the author would flashback to Joe's rough childhood. The abandonment by his family was one of the reasons he had grown so strong. Joe was enrolled at Washington University and tried out for crew. Eventually, Joe and his team would travel to many competitions that would land their boat a spot at the Olympics.
4. Two literary devices used by the author are setting and flashbacks. The author uses flashbacks to fill in details of Joe's life as we're reading. The setting changes throughout the book.
5. 3) The book is about how a kids mom was killed by a foul ball in baseball that was hit by the kids best friend. In the story there are a lot of flashbacks to what happen.
4) Two literary elements that the author used were Setting and Characterization. The author used setting when the story goes from being at school, to being at the baseball field, to being at home or a friends house. The author uses characterization, by characterizing the main character Owen as very small and short.
5) One lesson I learned from this book was that things can happen randomly and by accident, meaning that no one ever thought that the kids mom would die from being hit by a foul ball.

(2)  I read this book because I researched each book prior to selecting it and I thought I would be the most interested in this one. It also had a picture of a cute old man XD.
(3) This story is about a young man, who is also the author, Mitch Album. In the story he  rekindled his friendship with an old man, Morrie. Morrie was in his final days so Mitch decided to make them more enjoyable.
(4)They used flashbacks quite often and metaphors.
(5)There were MANY lessons in this book and it was even mentioned that there was a class about the lessons. Some of them are: "Love always wins"; "Once you learn to die, you learn how to live"; "Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do".
The theme is all of the lessons that Morrie teaches but mostly his lessons about Love.

    2) I decided to read Tuesdays with Morrie because it seemed like a very interesting book and books with simple titles are usually very interesting.
    3)      A boy by the name of Mitch is in college. While he is there he develops a strong relationship with his college professor. However the professor has a disease known as ALS. This doesn't affect there friendship at all. Mitch and Morrie continue to be very good friends.
    4) In Tuesdays with Morrie, author Mitch Albom uses flashbacks to show how Morrie used to be able to walk and do everyday activities. The author also gives the book a bit of a sad tone.
    5) The lesson I got out of this novel is that you should never treat anyone differently because they have a disability. You should always Treat everyone the same and be nice to everyone, even if they are different from you.

    3. The novel is about a girl who lives in a village surrounded by Taliban. And she has to deal with living her life with threats all around her. 
    4. Point of view and characterization are used in this novel. An example of point of view is Malala because she is the author of this novel. Characterization is used when she is describing the characters from her childhood. 
    5. The lesson I got from this novel is to always stand up for what you believe in.

  • I read The Boys in the Boat
  • I decided to read this book because of the interesting summer.
  • This book follows Joe Rantz life and the hardships he faced and how he overcame them so he could row with the University of Washington and eventually go on to win gold at the Berlin Olympics.
  • The author used charization to build on Joe and have him develop as a character. The author also used flashbacks so he could tell us about Joe’s childhood.
  • This book taught me that now matter how bad life has treated you, you can always overcome your problems.

    4.The book is in first person since she wrote it. One of the main setting of the novel is Swat Valley, Pakistan that's where Malala grew up. 
    5. The book made me realize how women should stand up for themselves and how in some places they have no right.
