From the preface of the book "The Lord of The Flies" you realize how well civilized the boys were, preparing meetings, allowing only the person with the conch to speak, and most importantly, the leadership. Despite the fact that Jack began to rebel against Ralph, the boys managed to nominate a leader for them all. Now, what was faulty with Ralph's leadership strategies that ended up as a loss on his end? To figure this out, i have decided to take one of by far the most successful leaders in the world (in my opinion), Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, and compare how both of them managed this arduous role.

In The Lord of The Flies Ralph was elected as the group leader, giving orders and mandates and planning meetings, while keeping things fair between everyone. But how he dealt with his people is the problem at hand. For example, when the little ones said they saw a beast, he was needed to calm them down and keep their sanity's in check, but what occurred instead was that Jack made them believe in this beast and informed them on how they shall kill this so-called "beastie". Despite the fact that Jack tried to reassure the little ones that they will hunt down the beast, it still meant that he made them inherit the idea of how there is a beast wandering the island. When needing to be a leader, you must be fearless, but sometimes Ralph would end up petrified, for example: when the dead pilot was thought to be the beast, Ralph and two others went in search for him, but when they discovered the body, instead of investigating on it they ran without a thought for anything other than their lives. Instead of Ralph acting responsible, he instead ran away, ignoring his people's problems.

There is not much to speak of on Jack's side other than how instead of ruling with love, he instead decided to rule his "Kingdom" through fear. An example on this would be how instead of persuading the little ones on the fact that there is no beast in the jungle, he emphasized in the beast's life and made them reassure themselves on the fact that there is a beast. Jack's way of ruling his people was the one of the major factors that caused the sudden change of the children's natures.

Unlike both Jack and Ralph's leadership, Sheikh Zayed is responsible for his people, fearless for his country, and always treats and rules with kindness and thoughtfulness towards his people. One thing that truly makes Sheikh Zayed far more better than the two characters is that when he visions things and always looks one step further, thinking towards the future, never looking back. A clear example is how he managed to hold the UAE and push it up into success despite the failures that he had done.
