For instance, the historical shifts or changes in a person's time may impact that person's individual beliefs and convictions, either minimally or significantly. For example, my ancestors (both Filipinos and Chamorros) had their own religious and cultural systems prior to the Spaniards' and other Westerners' contact. They brought in with them their practices, history, and most important of all, their religious beliefs and doctrines, and genetic heritage (many Chamorros and Filipinos have Spanish-descent in them). This completely altered that generation and the succeeding generations' view on life, cultural and familial practices, and how we live our lives, overall. These changes can affect a society/culture in a positive or negative way. For example, Andrew Jackson, the 7th U.S President, created the framework for democracy and issued new currency for his people. But he issued the removal of Indian tribes from the majority of their land and forcibly moved them all to the west of Mississippi, uncooperative tribes would resist but would fail. This caused the lives of many Indian tribes and their people, thus affecting them negatively.
