One of the reasons for the disappearance of indigenous languages was to hear that the younger generation who can speak indigenous languages is decreasing, and I thought about the literacy problem of Korean youth.

Currently, Korean teenagers are also unable to accurately recognize the meaning of sentences due to poor literacy, resulting in more and more misunderstandings, and teenagers who are more familiar with English than Korean are emerging.

Maybe indigenous people’s problems will be more serious.

Education can play a big role in this situation. It would be of great help to protect indigenous languages by implementing education that allows them to look at the wider society and not focus on grades. As we learn that language problems are serious problems in society and try to solve them, we will soon have a society where everyone's language is respected and protected.

As the students said,In the era of globalization reached by technological advances, people in the majority of the world often focus only on English. This causes the problem of abandoning the language unique to the nation, which can be called the identity of each country. This can cause a big problem, causing conflicts between our older generations who were familiar with traditional languages and the new generation. We must not forget our identity, the traditional language, and strive for the preservation of indigenous languages. We must continue our efforts to maintain our own language by using technological advances to create digital libraries or cultural content that uses our indigenous languages.

I think the media has a positive effect on preserving the native language. The reason I think so is the fact that the media contributes to the preservation of indigenous languages. Although English has become a common language in the world due to the spread of the media, it is the fact that globalization has allowed many people to speak English and communicate regardless of nationality, which does not contribute to the decrease in native languages. In addition, as the media develops, many people can access and accept the languages and cultures of many countries around the world and this can pay more attention to minorities who were on the verge of disappearing and establish the concept of indigenous languages, which can be called ethnic minorities' identity, in the world. For example, the number of people who film documentaries for minorities in broadcasting stations in various countries around the world and learn the language of minorities also increases, which can have a positive effect.

Losing the rich diversity of languages around the world is a cultural loss. Digital technology can be a powerful tool for the preservation and promotion of these indigenous languages. Through digital archives, language learning apps, social media, and digital media, we can support the preservation and promotion of indigenous languages. However, it's crucial to approach this with cooperation and sensitivity, considering issues of access to digital resources. I want to debate about "Language Rights and Ownership". "Language Rights and Ownership" is an important and complex issue when it comes to the preservation of indigenous languages through digital technology.

Language rights encompass the fundamental right of individuals and communities to use, maintain, and pass on their language to future generations. Indigenous communities often face challenges related to language rights, including threats from dominant languages and cultures. Using digital technology to preserve their languages can be a way to assert these rights.

However, questions of ownership also arise. Who has the right to decide how a language is preserved and disseminated digitally? Indigenous communities should have a strong say in this, and it's essential to respect their autonomy and self-determination.

It's crucial to strike a balance between the preservation efforts and ensuring that these languages are not commodified or exploited. Ownership and control over digital language resources should ideally rest with the indigenous communities themselves, as they are the rightful stewards of their languages and their cultural heritage.

Ultimately, the debate over language rights and ownership in the digital age highlights the need for respectful collaboration, consent, and empowerment of indigenous communities in the preservation process, ensuring their voices and choices are at the forefront of these efforts.

I strongly agree that 'english dominance', which was mentioned during the presentation is the highest factor that is leading to the degration of indigenous languages. Since English is used as the world's official language, it became possible to use English to communicate with people from all over the world and have more opportunities. In that part, the language used by a minority will have been gradually decreased in usage, and in the process, there may have occurrd a crisis of extinction of indigenous languages.

I think that digital technology can play a positive impact on preserving indigenous languages.

Digital technology makes it easier to preserve indigenous languages that are in the risk of extinction by leaving it on the record or digitalizing and saving it. By videos, digital documents, languages can be stored in digital formats.

For example, In 1996, UNESCO designated Jeju-language as a language in danger of extinction, and it is proposed to build a large language model called LLM for the implementation of chatbots for the preservation of Jeju language, and the Jeju Studies Research Center has released an online pilot operation plan for the Jeju Language History by 2024. As such, Jeju, a representative extinction indigenous language, is being preserved using digital technologies.

In conclusion, I think that linguistic resources of the languages at the risk of extinction can be studied , preserved, and can be accessible for the future generations by the use of digital technologies.

I believe that currently, digital technology is contributing to the erosion of indigenous languages. The younger generation, known as MZ, who are active online, often use their own slang and abbreviations, distancing themselves from indigenous languages and blurring the essence of language. Another reason for the decline of indigenous languages due to digital technology is globalization. With digitalization, the world can communicate rapidly, and English is gradually becoming the global lingua franca. While using English as a global language is not inherently problematic, its excessive use threatens the position of indigenous languages.

I think that digital technology can both exacerbate the extinction of indigenous languages and potentially provide solutions. If people use their indigenous languages online and promote them widely, it could be a way to prevent the extinction of these languages and preserve them effectively.

Two arguments can be made here. First, in digital, many things are naturally recorded and easily shared. This can help preserve indigenous languages. On the other hand, people are changing languages to communicate more easily and quickly, and also to adopt other cultures more easily. So, while digital technology will help keep indigenous languages alive, it will transform them and prevent them from being preserved intact.

I think the development of technology is extinguishing indigenous languages. First of all, the development of social media, which has developed in the process of technological development, has led to the influx of various neologisms, slang words, and foreign words, which contributes to the extinction of indigenous languages. An example of this is the case of South Korea. Since the popularization of social media, many new words and foreign words have become popular in South Korea, especially among the younger generation, which has led to the disappearance of the pure Korean language

I think development of digital technology can reversely promote protection of indigenous languages. Since Internet network gets attention by development of technology, we can access to information which was inaccessible before the technology develops. By many sites on the Internet, people can easily search and be curious about rare things such as indigenous languages. They are hard to search if there is no Internet at all, but by Internet, we can even learn it. By such process, I think Indigenous languages can be protected.
