NATURE

There has been a continuous debate over this certain topic, but why do we think nature has a lot more impact when it comes to the growth of children than its environmental factors, which is nurture? Nature refers to the process where a person gets their qualities and abilities from their parents through the study of heredity. By knowing the influences of genes, we can also identify not just the possible traits of a newborn baby, but also the possible diseases and illnesses they can inherit. A study has already proven this and an example can be “60% of a baby's temperament is determined by genetics; whether they are sociable or shy is also primarily determined by genetics. The foods a baby prefers and whether the baby is active or sedentary are also primarily determined by heredity.” We have a doctrine called Innatism which contrasts the Tabula Rasa theory of John Locke. In innatism, it states that a mind is automatically born with ideas, knowledge, and beliefs.

Nature has a profound impact on the growth and development of individuals. Our genes, which we inherit from our parents, determine many aspects of our physical and mental makeup. This includes traits like our height, eye color, and even our temperament and personality.
It is well established that genetics play a key role in shaping who we are. Studies have shown that a significant portion of our temperament and personality is determined by genetics.

In conclusion, nature has a tremendous impact on the growth and development of individuals. Our genes contribute to shaping who we are and how we change over time.

In addition to that, the terms “growth” and “change” are not only limited to the physical features of an individual but also aspects that can not be seen by the naked eye such as opinions, personalities, and mindsets. As we age, we develop our own self-thinking and decisions and these can be influenced by what we see and experience as well as the people that surround us and interact with us every single day. But of course, genes play a big factor in this. Learning is one of the examples of psychological traits that one can inherit through its genetic factors. As previously mentioned, the concept of Innatism also applies to this.

Furthermore, nature also leads people who are still growing up to get some very valuable insights, wise decisions, and gives them more wisdom in certain aspects of life. It also gives certain people to have more capacity in terms of emotions considering they’ll probably get more emotional guidance from other people other than their parents. There are also opinions of other researchers that certain genes may not be equally activated without the environmental aspect needed for it. Let’s say a kid is fond of wanting to play some kind of ball, if the kid is stuck at home mostly all day and not being able to go outside, that certain aspect of their life might be for not. People all around the globe whom of which are researchers too think that nature and nurture are inseparable (I.E Nature X Nurture). But without Nature, the things that were nurtured by the parents may just be entirely be all for not because their child didn’t get the significant amount of environmental aspects in life such as going outside and meeting up with people.

Some genes may weaken certain environmental stimuli. For instance, some longtime smokers may never develop illnesses associated with smoking, and this may be at least in part because of their genes. Some genes' activity may be altered by environmental contaminants, and many behaviors thought to have a genetic foundation still lack genes.

The big question is, does nature or nurture shape us? Research has shown that one's genes and their environment are inextricably intertwined, suggesting that both nature and nurture are important. The interplay between a person's inherited temperament, which defines how they think, and their environment constantly reshapes personality. Altering aspects of one’s personality can be done, but the process is difficult, and most people cannot do it on their own. Blame it on your parents (nature). Blame it on your friends (nurture). But, in truth, you can probably blame your personality on both.

Submitted by:

Aguda, Daniel Joshua
Cabael, Azel
Caderma, Sharmaine
Nepomuceno, Ferguz
Saluta, Kyle
Sulit, Bless

NURTURE

The majority of specialists agree that neither nature nor nurture is superior to the other, but both elements are essential to who we are and will become. Nurture is more important than nature, as it fosters the ability to connect with people, form relationships, and gain a sense of self-worth. Bobo dolls were used by Albert Bandura to demonstrate that nurture rather than nature has a greater impact on human behavior, and almost all respondents stressed the importance of nurturing when discussing factors influencing an adopted baby, their own experiences, an angry youngster, or a violent young person. Nature has less of an impact than nurture, but our experiences are likely to be particularly important, and we may be able to flexibly alter our personalities over time. "Nurture" is defined as the many environmental variables that affect a person, including their experiences in early childhood, family and social relationships, culture, and community.
