Santa Fe was the location where the revolt occurred and where the Spanish settled. The Taos and Acoma were two of the tribes that also took part in the revolt with the Pueblo people. Some of the tribes were along the Rio Grande, where the Spanish colonists pushed their boundaries with the Native Americans.

The Pueblo Revolt happened in 1680. It was a fight between the Spanish settlers and Native Americans, more specifically the Pueblo people. The Spanish were being led by a man named Oñate, who, instead of staying on one side of the Rio Grande, they forced themselves into the land of Native Americans. The Spaniards wanted and forced the Pueblo people to work and crop for them. Native Americans had enough and killed Oñate's nephew, which resulted in the killing and enslaving of the Pueblo people; this caused Native Americans telling Mexico City authorities about Oñate, which then he got fired from his position. When things got rough about non-Catholics in Spain, it got the same in New Mexico; they attacked Native Americans who weren't Catholic. It wasn't until a man named Popé that led Native Americans to revolt against the Spanish. This gave them their freedom to practice their religion and have liberty.

This is a statue of Po'pay, who led the Native Americans to freedom and success from the Spanish. He went through humiliation of getting whipped in public in 1675 because of his religious beliefs. After that, he went back to his home and started to hold meetings to revolt against the Spanish.
