Jamestown is probably one of the most important areas of America since it was the first successful colony where Europeans that colonized Americans lived. This was founded in Virginia because Sir Walter Raleigh claimed the land for England for his Queen Elizabeth the 1st. Several years later, King James the 1st gave a company called the Virginia Company of London a charter, which would allow them to make a colony there. That company then gave that charter to other people so they could live there. Those people believed Virginia would be a pleasant place to live, but they were wrong.

Utah was named after the Native American tribe Ute. Utes were forced by the executive order of Abraham Lincoln to leave Provo Valley and relocate to the Uintah Basin. In 1849 Mormons, now living in Utah Territory, petitioned to enter the Union as the state of Deseret. Statehood would give the region more autonomy through its own elected state government and representatives. In 1870 it was also one of the earliest states to give women the right to vote, only for it to be taken back in 1887 for a weird reason. Utah apparently had a strange relationship with polyamorous relationships-the act of having more than two partners in a romantic relationship. For example two men and two women being together for the emotional and romantic reasons of being in a relationship instead of purely sexual purposes. For some weird reason, some groups in Utah thought that was a bad thing and others thought that both letting women vote and not letting them vote could stop polygamy from happening. Women eventually regained the right to vote in 1895.

During the American Revolution and a large factor of how it got off its feet was the Boston Massacre. Around 50 colonists were protesting the presence of so many British soldiers in their city. Some reports say the group was throwing snowballs, sticks, and rocks at soldiers and I can see that happening. A shot rang out which resulted in more things being thrown so even more shots were fired. Five colonists died, three instantly, and two from injuries. Three years later another well-known event of the American Revolution took place. The Boston Tea Party happened in 1773. The British government saw how many people were buying their tea and saw an opportunity. They placed a tax on tea and tried to get the colonists to keep buying it with some passive-aggressive actions. None of which the colonists were happy with. They saw the tax as unfair and so, on the night of December 16, 1773, several hundred participants dressed in disguise, rowed in small boats out to three cargo ships in Boston Harbor, climbed aboard, and dumped 90,000 pounds of tea into Boston Harbor.

The Texas Revolution was fought between Mexico and Texas colonists from October 1835 to April 1836. It resulted in Texas' independence and the founding of the Republic of Texas. Mexico and Texas would continue to butt heads and fight. A public and secret treaty was forced but Mexico continued to refuse to recognize Texas. It would continue up until the Mexican-American War. The Mexican-American War happened from April 1846 to February 1848. It stemmed from the United States' annexation of Texas in 1845 and from a dispute over whether Texas's ended at the Nueces River or the Rio Grande. The war resulted in the United States' acquisition of more than 500,000 square miles of Mexican territory extending westward from the Rio Grande to the Pacific Ocean.

This is important because this speech helped ignite a fire in some people so much that the went out to make change and advocate for the people who didn’t have enough power to be heard.

Connecticut is an important U.S. state, as it aided in the Revolutionary War; when war broke out in 1775, Connecticut was one of the first colonies to join. It's militia fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill, where a Connecticut general made the famous statement "Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" Nathan Hill was another famous patriot from Connecticut. He served as a spy for General George Washington. When he was caught by the enemy and sentenced to death, he said: "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country!" Later, Connecticut was a center for the anti-slavery movement in the 1800s; many abolitionists lived in the state, including John Brown. Connecticut eventually outlawed slavery. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Connecticut fought for the North, and the manufacturing capability of the state helped supply the Union Army with weapons uniforms, and ships.
