Hearing their stories is the driving force that has kept me in the game for so long. With many of my students the relationship has remained for years. Today during Drive line one of my former students own kindergartner yells out the window, "my dad said you were the coolest teacher ever...he said your his FAVORITE". I thought for a minute...yeah I was a pretty dang good teacher. Even better...is this particular student now a father, had his share of challenges. But this week the special ed team at my school had our wing meeting (I am the lead of the team). At the meeting, I gave each of my teachers motivational quote frames to hang in their rooms and I also gave them a quote that says, "Keep Calm and let's have fun." I had read a chapter of a book this week from my Educational Leadership class about spreading positive vibes everywhere. It really has changed my frame of mind and I wanted to be able to give that motivation to them as well. The team has had a lot of struggles so I thought this would definitely build some positive vibes and to remember to have fun in life. It was a crazy week with kids' behaviors. And we were down one dean because his wife unexpectedly went into labor a month early (good thing #1 - Mom and baby are fine and babies are the BEST!). And we have been lucky enough to be selected for an OSR MDE audit this year (read with dripping sarcasm) so we're working on getting all of our stuff together. And we had a teacher resign this week and tell his class before we were able to send letters home. And we have lots of special ed staffings and IEPs going on. So we were B.U.S.Y.   But our admin team and office staff are super supportive of one another. Throughout this crazy week we sent and received random silly texts and pictures that helped lighten the mood.
