At that fire I can see Mary and two disciples. There is a lot of light and smoke passing by Jesus I also see a lamb burning on the fire.
I think the artist did this to show that there were people there after he died. I think the artist added the smoke to show the way to  heaven. And I also think he added the lamb to show he was the lamb.
Finally, in this image Jesus is the lamb of God because, his body is whole and pure. He is also the lamb of God because of the lamb they have on the fire to signify him as the lamb of God. The sky looks like a storm is coming with the clouds being a dark shade of grey. Jesus is by himself really emphasizing how alone He must've felt in the moment. I think the artist did this to show how badly Jesus suffered for us. The blood covering His entire body really makes you think about the pain Jesus went through on the cross. He has His hands opened showing His willingness to die for us even though it would cause Him so much pain. I think that's what the artist wanted us to focus on the horrible things Jesus had to endure for us. This photo most depicts Jesus as the suffering Servant. I believe this because the picture shows Jesus in immense pain. He is coated in His own blood and cut and ripped all over His body.   • When I look at this picture I see pain. In this picture Jesus has already passed. The pain I see is in the people who love him. The sky is very dark and gray, you see the two others on their crosses nearby, everyone is sad that Jesus is gone. there seems to be soldiers around in the area and there controlling the crowd.
  • I think that everyone is mourning over the death of jesus. In this moment he has already died and all of his loved ones have gathered around to hug Jesus and tell him they love him. The sky is dark because Jesus just died. 
  • I think that artist was trying to show most of the pain through all of the people. The artist wanted to show all of the suffering that all the other people had to go through when he died. He also suffered, you can tell he died giving his all for us, so we can be unburdened from original sin and have a hence in heaven. 
  • In this specific scene i think jesus is the ransum for the people. All these people are gathered around him sad for his death, but the died and suffered for them so they can have their own place in heaven without original sin.

Mary is in extreme awe and sadness that this happened to her child, while the others are grieving and mourning His death as well. Finally, I see that the angels are protecting Jesus in a way and making sure he has a clear path to heaven.
    I think that the artist added Mary to show that she was in indescribable pain that this had to happen. The artist wanted the viewers to realize that the angels were there to show that Jesus was on his way to heaven. Lastly, the artist wants to focus on the fact that there are many people there, meaning that Jesus saved many.
    The theological reason is ransom for many. I chose this because you can see that there are a bunch of people there and before in class, if there were many people, to signifies that Jesus was out to save them. Another reason why is because the notes describe ransom as a sum of money or other payment demanded or paid for the release of a prisoner.     2) In this picture I think the artist is trying to focus on Jesus' blood. By focusing on the blood the artist makes that the only portion of the painting with color. Through this focus, the artist is able to show us how much pain and suffering Jesus went through so the we can be saved from sin. 
    3) The image the author is reflecting on is Jesus as the suffering servant. The artist is portraying this image through the detail that is put in his face which is filled with hurt and fear, along with the blood and the scars on his body. There are people asleep at his feet and some awake. In the background there are people coming with ladders to take Jesus down off of the cross. There is a town in the background and the sky is going dark.  I think that Jesus had just died and the people came to take him down from the cross. The people at his feet are Mary and the disciples and during his crucifixion they are the only ones who stayed by his side. I think the artist did this to show that Jesus was important to these people and they stayed by his side during a hard time. The halo shows that Jesus is the true Son of God and it is shown when he dies. In this picture Jesus shows the Lamb of God. He shows the Lamb of God because he was killed in order to save us. Jesus also was not broken and the blood of his body poured out of him.

  •  We can see a silhouette of Jesus on the cross with the two other criminals.The background shows a blue sky that is getting lighter as it goes down and a singular lamb is shown in the back. There is a bright star in the sky behind Jesus’ head which looks to be the same star that was seen by the kings when Jesus was born. 
  • The artist wanted us to see that Jesus truly was the son of God by putting the star behind him. We also can see that the light is coming from the foot of the cross and spreading upwards which shows us Jesus is the light for us and is important in our lives. 
  • The image I chose reflects Jesus as the lamb of god. This is because we can see a single lamb in the background of the crosses as well as we know Jesus is not suffering anymore because it is beginning to become light again and the darkness is gone. We also know it is not ransom for many because there are not any other people around to witness his death.

The sky has a few white clouds, but it is a blue sky, with plenty of sun shining. Standing on the ground under and behind Jesus are a lot of people. There are people towards the left of the painting seemingly hugging each other or holding someone (possible Mary) up from falling, and they all have a glow around their heads. There are also guards all about, some riding horses, a family playing a game, and just regular people walking about. In the distant background, there is a great, developed city on a hill. Also, there is a skull under Jesus and a few scattered elsewhere on the ground.
    Why: I believe the artist portrayed the picture in this way to show that Jesus gave people the opportunity of eternal life, which they enjoyed. Before Jesus died, the gates of Heaven were closed, and people could only live their life on Earth before dying, with nothing after that. Followers of Christianity at the time were likely upset about this and were waiting for someone to save them. However, after Jesus died on the cross, Heaven was opened to everyone on Earth, meaning people had the opportunity of eternal life. Now, followers of Christianity were likely elated by this and had more excitement in their life. This is reflected in the painting with the light atmosphere, people smiling, and the playing of games. Also, even though Jesus died, only a couple of people seem to be mourning him. Instead, the artist wanted to focus on the new happiness injected into people now that they had the chance to go to Heaven.
    Theological Reason: The theological reason for Jesus' death in this image is that he was the Ransom for Many. This can be seen because there are many people in the painting who are living happily. Even though it was a great loss when Jesus died, that is what needed to happen in order for all of these people to live and have eternal life. Jesus was the ransom (since he died), and the reward was people being saved. Also, Jesus is already dead in the image and he doesn't have blood on him. Instead, the sun is shining on him. Angels are surrounding Jesus with concerned and sorrowful looks on their faces, while the Roman soldiers try and pierce the angels with their spears. In the sky, there's darkness overcoming the light and cracks in the ground. 

    The artist did this so we can focus and see the true meaning behind this artwork. The soldiers and angels can be represented as the angels and devils, fighting to get to Heaven, since the gates were open when Jesus died. Another point the artist was trying to show us was the darkness in the sky. When Jesus died, dramatic natural events occurred. There was an earthquake, eclipse, and the tearing of the temple curtains, making the entire world disturbed and regretful of what they had done. 

    This image represents the Ransom for many. I think this because there are many people that Jesus died for, surrounding Him and mourning His death. The artwork shows angels around Him, which could depict Heaven opening the gates because Jesus died for us.

I notice that there is dark clouds and it almost looks like its raining. It seems like there is light behind all of the clouds.

    I think the Artist made this to show how Jesus' death brought upon chaos for many.
    They are trying to focus on the crowd on the ground who looks like Jesus death has been detrimental to many, and this picture exemplifies warfare going on after his death. I think they want the viewer to really take notice of the impact that Jesus dying had on many, and how it was a dark time. I also think its important to think about the light in the background to show that even though its a dark time, there could be some form of light, in this case it looks like heaven

    I think it could be seen as ransom for many.  It shows that Jesus died, but also shows that there is some sort of light behind the dark clouds, which could exemplify heaven in this case.     2. I think the artist is focusing on Jesus being ready to die on the cross and go to heaven through the clouds. And how the sky is now lighting up again from darkness (eclipse). Which is happening because Jesus has washed away out sin with his death.
    3. I think the picture reflects Jesus as the suffering servant. I think this because he is all alone and suffering a painful death on the cross for all of our sins. Which shows how he fulfilled the old testament prophecy of the suffering servant.

Jesus is on the cross next to the two prisoners. There are guards as well people on the mountain, it seems someone is throwing a hammer towards the three crosses. The sky is dark due to the eclipse that happened at the time of Jesus death, darkness covered the land. 

    I believe the artist showed the heavens opening and Jesus calling out to highlight that Jesus suffered to do his fathers will. On the cross Jesus cries out to his God "father, forgive them", even though people have done him wrong he still asks for their forgiveness. I think it is important to remember that God sent down his only son to lay down his life for our own sins. In order for the prophecy to be fulfilled he was to be crucified and rise on the third day. 

    I think this is an example of Jesus being the suffering servant. Jesus died to save us from our sins, even with his dying breath he still chose to forgive us.     I think the artist did this to showcase how upset marry (the one laying up against the cross) and some of his disciples where. The artist was also showing how the romans didn't break Jesus' legs before he was taken down. It's also showing the eclipse that had happened after Jesus had  died. 
    The theological reason that is reflected in this image is the lamb of God. This is because during the passover the Israelites had put the lambs blood over the posts of the door just how Jesus' blood was put on the wood of the cross. The lamb was also perfect and had no blemishes just how Jesus was born without original sin and he was perfect when he had died.

When I look at this picture I saw Jesus looking out to heaven. Around him, is the dark sky, so I can infer that that this picture is around 12-3 pm. Also he is most likely talking to God, which is sad because right after this, he dies due to suffocation. He looks weak, and filled with pain, there's blood on his body due to the crown of thorns, which was placed on his head a couple hours before hand. He is strip of his clothes, and of his dignity, left with a small, and thin garment around him.

    2. I believe that the artist was trying to show the pain that Jesus was feeling in his last moments. Also I think that they were trying to show the loneliness that Jesus was feeling.

    3. Jesus is showing that he is a suffering servant. It is shown in the picture that he is the one that suffered the most that day. Jesus showed that no one can feel the pain that he felt, that is why he died for our sins.

You can see a guard in the back looking at some sort of weapon maybe used to hurt prisoners. There are other people on crosses but no one is gathering around them. You can also see that the lighting is a lot brighter around Jesus highlighting that he is holy.

    2 He is trying to show that some people didn’t want to let Jesus die and they were very saddened over his death. He wanted the audience to focus on Jesus and not the other prisoners which is why Jesus is brighter and the prisoners are hidden and in darkness. It shows that many people loved and cared for him. 

    3 The theological reason that goes with the picture the best would be ransome because he is no longer suffering and people can go to heaven now because of his death. The price that Jesus paid was being beaten and killed which led to people being able to go to heaven. He saved us from sin by dying on the cross. It's ransome because he went through all of this and died which was exchanged for us being able to go to eternal life and having our sins forgiven.
