         <description><![CDATA[<div>" Appleton felt hardly any shock at all, but she noticed an <br>unpleasant ripping sound . . . like someone tearing a long, long <br>strip of calico."<br>Using the word unpleasant shows that with hitting something cause a shock throughout the boat came with a noise that sounded bad to Appleton. I think the point was that the noise meant that the boat was ripping and that could be bad. The term for this is called word choice.</div>]]></description>
