I began to fill the doorway of the tiny room with stones and cement. Brick by brick.”   (cask of amontillado). 
This quote represents Gothic fiction because it shows us the impending doom and we knew that because the author gave us a lot of details to make you imagine what’s going to happen next: for example, the basket of stone blocks, some cement and small trowel so, those materials we knew that we use them to build walls. Then, the author said” I began to fill the doorway of the tiny room..” At the moment we knew that he built a wall to bury Fortunato and this is how we knew that the Gothic is impending doom.
