Specifically in Oaxaca, Mexico they face a large amount of "feminicide"- a term used by Latin feminists. This term is described as the killing of a woman just because they are a woman or a woman who is oppressed, abused, and/or silenced to the point they feel as if they were dead. (Martin; Carvajal) 

Cases of femicide, in this case of deaths, Martin and Carvajal found in their study that they are fueled by the need to police women in the public sphere, essentially punishing them for being outside of the home. There were also cases of "feminicide" within the home, which are related to intimate domestic violence. However, the other cases showed a rather dehumanization of a women rather then just partner abuse.  (Martin; Carvajal)

-  "Instituto de la Mujer Oaxaqueña" established in 2000
- In 2001, state law passed addressing interfamilial violence
- In 2005, the state government created a Special Prosecutor for Crimes Against Women.

Iran is also set on a very patriarchal foundation. Men are taught from a young age to be dominant and the leader in the family. While, women are taught to be submissive and obedient especially when they do marry. (Naghavi, et. al)

Women in Iran face a problem of speaking out against intimate partner violence as their family's honor is threatened if they speak out of their problems outside of their home. Society and culture endorses submission and silence when it comes to violence in the home. (Naghavi, et. al)

Under Iran's Penal Code, women are restricted in rights and personal liberties through jobs, clothing, thorough protection, and much more. They are not seen as equal as men. Intimate gendered violence against women is seen as something that happens in every women's life. So, when it does happen, women see it as normal and there are very few support opportunities for these women to reach out to. (Seddighi; Tafakori)

Masih Alinejad - a feminist activist started a Facebook page named "My Stealthy Freedom". This page was created to support the struggle against the mandatory veiling policies in Iran and other gendered Violence. This page has helped many women in opening up about how they feel in the patriarchal society. It has also provided a space where women can connect with others to speak about violence in their relationship. Ethiopian society is reliant on tradition. The society is dominated by males and women are less privileged. Men are taught and become the decision-makers in relationships. This sets problems for women as they fell pressure to stay silent of violence their relationship as their tradition would perceive it as normal and acceptable. This is why many cases of physical or sexual violence will go unreported in Ethiopia. (Desalegne)

The Women's Union in Vietnam raises issues for women. It criticizes the patriarchy and tries to combat intimate partner violence. However, it upholds gendered roles by encouraging women to ensure family happiness through nurturing and complying with an abusive partner. The National Women's Union states that Vietnam has an "implementation gap" to which their government is not provided proficient results to the fight to reduce violence against women. (Rydstrom) 

Le Thi Quy- scholar and feminist, who calls recognition for family violence and was credited with doing the first research of domestic violence in Vietnam.
