Qns: What is School Readiness Assessment (SRA)? Is it recommended for my child to go for SRA?

Ans:If parents decide to send child to mainstream, no need to do SRA

For SPED school, is there any "best" school for my child to enter?

Ans: Each SPED School cater to each child's learning needs. Hence, "best" SPED school is able to cater to the child learning needs. For e.g., If a child require a lot of sensory input, a school that offer sensory integration room will be beneficial to the child's learning needs.

For normal pri sch, will my child receive any pull out session?

Ans: Special Educator needs officer (SEN) will assess the child educational needs. If there is a need, SEN officers will provide recommendations based on the child's learning needs

Will the special needs trained teacher in primary school be shadowing my child similar like DS plus programme?

Ans: Depend on school curriculum. For e.g., in sped school that cater to ASD. class size is dependent on the school program and curriculum

Will the school know my child's learning needs and diagnosis? Preschool will inform the school or I need to tell them?

Ans: Each enrolled child in DS+ Programme will received End of Intervention report at the end of intervention (graduation at the end of K2).

When assessing the Learning Support programmes for a primary school, what should we be looking out for? Most will write up that they will do additional 30 mins per day, but what questions should we be asking the primary schools?

Can I register mainstream and sped at the same time?

Ans: No

can you share in general if they have the same opportunities for CCA and sporting activities in SPED environment?

Ans: Depend on SPED school curriculum. For e.g., At rainbow, they offer plenty of art opportunities. (can check out their Instagram page)

If my child is enrolled in mainstream school for primary 1, and is not able to cope. Is it possible to change to SPED mid way or in primary 2?

Ans: Yes. Parents are encourage to get feedback from teacher on their child's learning progress. SEN officer will establish communication and recommend for follow up

Do DS Plus send the report to the doctor

If my child's ds plus therapist assessed that my child is independent and suitable for mainstream, is it encouraged for us as parents to still bring the child for the psychological assessment with the hospitals for a formal diagnosis?

Ans: What type of assessment that the parent is looking for. For e.g, if the child has difficulty in terms of literacy, the child may show signs of dyslexia. Hence, through dyslexia assessment, the child will receive intervention service from DAS (Dyslexia association of Singapore)
