- Insert possible resources (e.g. images, videos, sound) that would aid people in complying with these rules.
- Address the following questions within this information wall.
Q1. Which of the Ten Ethical Computing Guidelines do you think students violate most often?
Q2. Why do you think these violations occur?
Q3. What do you think could be done to reduce or eliminate such unethical behavior?

Perhaps students unknowingly violate the eighth computing commandment the most. As students we are expecting to create presentations in majority of our classes. We choose to enhance our projects with media with images, videos, or music. Some students are unaware that they are essentially stealing intellectual property that they either did not pay for, do not have the rights to, or they did not cite the source of their images properly. I was once doing the same until I took a course in high school on Computer Ethics. There I was exposed to ways that I can filter images in Google to assure that I am utilizing pictures from the Create Commons Licenses.

As mentioned in a previous post, a general lack of awareness can lead students or other computer users to break ethical, possibly legal, codes. We can avoid committing these violations if we make the effort to learn what is appropriate and what is not.

In the case where the individual is aware of the violation that is taking place, they may be led by personal greed and desperation to commit a particular computer crime such as implementing malware in a program to obtain information from another person.

Although efforts to eliminate behavior may not be 100% effective, we can surely make a difference by hosting community events where students can learn more about what they are allowed to do online as well as what they should avoid doing. Pamphlets are also an excellent way to gather the ethical codes and where an individual can go to get more information.
