This was an effort to honor the peace treaties with the Native Americans, and prevent battles with them. The Pontiacs saw the refusal of trade as a threat and launched into many battles with colonists. The treaty led to the creation of the proclamation line, and colonists were angered with the Indians because  of the destruction and massacres.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Tea Act of 1773</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Allowed British East India Company to ship tea to colonies without paying duties, which made it cheaper for the British Company to ship tea to the colonies, even though the colony residents still had to pay Townshend Tax.<br><strong>Cause:</strong> British East India Company was on the verge of bankruptcy, so the British government issued the act in an attempt to save the Company from bankruptcy, as it would produce the government more money.<br><strong>Effect:</strong> The act severely angered the colonists, prompting the Boston Tea Party of 1773, where a shipment of tea was thrown overboard by the colonists to show their disscontempt with the Government, and spreading anti-British sentiment.</div>]]></description>
