Rationale: Adult learners possess a variety of diverse background, and we as lecturers need to provide differentiated learning processes and content so that the students are able to learn at a comfortable pace. I realise that not every adult learner is fully ready in every session, so a well-established support channel (via email or phone) is essential to provide on-time and much needed assistance.

Not only is he not interested in the course to begin with, he also is very busy and lacking in sleep. Attending a course (which will take more of his brain and time) is probably the least he has in mind at this stage. Hence, showing an example or case study where descriptive statistics was being applied in his field to (hopefully) build his interest is a must . Since he is in the customer-relationship sector, the case study could be something along using descriptive statistics to profile customer and help prioritise which customers require more attention.

She is probably thinking that this course could help beef-up her resume, and she is thus determined to do well in this course. To do so,  she would probably be gunning for deliverables. Hence, she would probably be coming to class with a list of questions, such as "What are the deliverables?", "When are the deadlines?". "What are the marking rubrics?", etc. Hence, I will just need to be very clear during the briefing with all the information pertaining to these deliverables, i.e. I will put them up explicitly on my introduction slides.

I would actually pay attention to the dynamics between the two. Do they know each other well? Is it better (or better not) for them to work in pair in the assignment? I will likely have to factor this in running the class. For example, if Eric and Delilah have actually been working together well before, I will not be hesitant to pair them up again for the CA. They could actually learn more effectively in that way.
