Walt and Laura Bishop are the parents of Suzy Bishop. They are the ones who lead the search effort for Suzy, and subsequently Sam Shakusky. They are both lawyers, so they have a less loving, and more professional, relationship with the kids and each other.

The Bishop's generally have very poor and bad relationships with all characters in the film, including each other. The children have a very unloving relationship with their parents, as shown when Laura Bishop speaks to her children through a megaphone, in the opening scene. They also speak to their children like their clients.

Adults can be very immature and unloving, forgetting about the basic enjoyments of life and instead only focussing on their work.
The relationship between the Bishops in comparison to Suzy and Sam highlights the theme of maturity not being related to age,
as adolescents can be very mature and adults can be extremely immature, as shown when Walt Bishop gets angry and starts
attacking Captain Sharp by throwing his shoe at him.

The Bishops begin as a couple who have no true love for each other, and they address each other as if they were in court, showing no romantic love.

Laura Bishop- She starts off as a very separated person, very distant from all the other characters, and then she shows that she doesn't have love for her children and even less love for her husband, seen when she constantly sneaks away to meet her lover, Captain Sharp.

Walt Bishop- He is a very childish character, shown when he lifts the tent off the ground and yells at Sam and Suzy. He also has no love for his children, and is very depressed.
