C1 states that there were no privacy with the people as the “Japanese soldiers were everywhere; at every street corner,”. C2 states that people were easily accused of betrayal.
C3 states that people are forced to show respect to the Japanese. C4 shows that children were forced work due to the food being scarce, difficulty of finding jobs and fear of being violated by Japanese troops.
Therefore, everybody feared the Japanese and lived in harsh conditions where even children have to work.

We know this because source D2 states that “When the rickshaw pleader pleaded for a little more money, the soldier took the man’s arm,put it over his right soldier and flung him into the air with a judo throw”. This shows how the Japanese soldiers made the work environments for the civilians cruel and harsh.

We know this because sources A2, A3, A4 and A6 implied that food was not easily obtained to the public back then and even when it was, it was extremely expensive and/or tasted bad.

We can infer from source B3 that life during the Japanese Occupation was filled with propaganda. Source B3 says “They would show you the friendliness between the military and the civilians.” This shows that the Japanese were using propaganda to make people think that the Japanese were right and they were a better ruler than the British. Thus, there was a lot of propaganda to gain trust of the people.
