Porty Surf Life Saving Club - re-establishment of Buoys to mark the 'power vessel exclusion zone' noting the need for this to be permissive to water safety craft, small sailing boats, kayaks, SUPs and rowing boats, but 'dead slow' and prohibiting fast private vessels like speed boats, water ski tow boats and jey skis from operating above dead slow close to the shore

Porty SLSC/ PSKC - establish community showers. PSKC has > 400 community members across 4 sports, many young people. In addition Porty is home to multiple open water swimmers and recreational users. As the community water sports facility on the prom PSKC makes a good location to base public cold water showers - not least to clean off frequently polluted water and make water sports safer - priority should be made to providing one or more cold water showers and associated drainage off the PSKC fence, and idea location for water users and close to existing services. This could be cheaply and easily done as show by the nearby water fountain.

Porty SLSC - Establish fit for purpose water quality monitoring and reporting - this is a public health and so council concern not just SEPA. We have numerous beach closures due to elevated samples each year but the sampling is so ad hoc as to be pointless - recent sampling showed an elevated sample on the 26th September, it is still 'closed' on the 9th of september - which is crazy, multiple repeat samples should be taken e.g. ever 2 days after a exceedance to help rapidly reopen the beach. Moreover the monitoring and data needs to be linked to the CSO discharges which is not - e.g. last week the model prediction for Portobello central was 'good' despite 5 CSO discharging the day before, while porty west failed a test with no CSO discharges - it needs whole sale redesign to be fit for purpose withe detailed consultation with water users like Porty SLSC, and swimmers, and citizen science groups like Porty Water collective

As a cyclist and a dog owner I think the prom should be a dogs on leads only space (also think certain parts of the beach should be dog free areas at certain times of the year but that’s maybe beyond the remit of this initiative). Regards cyclists there needs to be clearer signage regards speed limits, areas where it’s mandatory to dismount during certain times of day and possibly speed bumps at the areas that are busiest or narrower.

The main focal point for people gathering is around Bath Street as that’s where the majority of food outlets are situated. Looking at options to introduce other eateries at the wider areas of the prom to spread the number of visitors along the whole length rather than all being clumped in one central area

It gets really busy at this part of the prom esp with bikes. We need a dismount or go slow for cyclists - the whole prom cannot be done at the same speed when it’s congested especially at weekends.

Id like to see a portion of beach where dogs are kept on leads, this would be an inclusive approach that would allow dogs on any of the beach but allowing for a shared area which could be helpful for young children/people scared of dogs etc.

Can we find a way to bring on stricter dog fouling controls. The streets stemming off from the Prom ie Beach lane and Figgate are constantly covered in dog faeces.

Add planters and or benches at right angles to the promenade at regular intervals. This could provide seating areas and additional plant-life but also act as chicanes/barriers to help reduce anti-social riding of illegal e-moterbikes and scooters. It could also incorporate SUDS to slow down runoff onto the beach to improve water quality.

Please can we have a zebra or pelican crossing at coillesdene drive/joppa rocks intersection. Traffic here is often at high speed as it is coming into/out of the 20mph zone making crossing feel unsafe.

The limited outdoor gym equipment is incredibly well utilised but there is only a few bits of equipment for pullups, tricep dips, situps and something broken. I've been speaking with many users and everyone would love to see some investment in some additional calisthenics equipment to allow more people to use this incredible spot. A better set up would be promoting getting fit and healthy for free while bringing people together in a positive way. I'd love to get involved in helping make this a reality.

This currently unused area could be transformed into a small green space, with trees, native wildflowers, seating and paths connecting it to the promenade. It could provide shade and shelter, improve biodiversity and create a pleasant place for residents and visitors to sit and relax.

Add more trees, wildflowers and other coastal planting throughout the promenade near or around the new sitting areas would make it greener and more attractive, while providing shade, supporting biodiversity and creating a more pleasant environment for everyone.
