I use different ICT tools in my classes (both for making learning more fun for students as well as for SEN students to adapt the material to their personal needs). Here are some of the tools I use:
- for fun learning and assessment Quizizz and Kahoot
- for presentation PicCollage
- online interactive games for vocabulary and grammar (I teach English as a second language)

As for the tools I heard about, I have already used and keep using most of them, namely:

Team work(and pair work, which I also use quite often):

Pros: it allows students to develop interpersonal skills, promotes personal autonomy and active learning (students choose how they learn, which contents they learn, and they actively participate in their learning path);

Cons: no significant ones.

ICT (like, using tablets, producing videos, using a recording app (like, Tellagami), pics or drawings (like, PicCollage):

Pros: ICT can definitely work as an inclusive tool, and they promote equity.

Cons: no significant ones.

Notes:

I had never heard about Tellagami. When students do some recording, they usually use their cell phones.

One other remark, many schools are still not equipped, so as to provide students with the chance to use tablets, others do not allow the use of tablets or cell phones in the classroom.

As inclusive/equity tools, I have also already uses apps like “Kahoot!” (good for creating quizzes), “Autodraw” (it recognises what we draw and suggests ideas), “Flipgrid” (video making), “Padlet”, etc. You can, of course, find lots of apps, for a lot of purposes. But I find this site especially useful: https://learningapps.org

Simplified curriculum (SC):

Pros: this is something we often do at school when we have SEN students; an SC helps us to create more flexible environments; teaching strategies and learning tasks, assessment processes and materials are adjusted to support all learners and minimise learning barriers.

Technology in work greatly helps students with disabilities because they can express, work, and learn in situations where their abilities were previously extremely limited. Autistic children use a visual schedule of activities and their images of day-to-day tablet activities can greatly assist both in planning activities and in expressing some basic needs.

In children with speech disorders and motor disturbances, the use of computers helps to make it more readable in writing and by doing more successfully their tasks that could not be verbally heard. For children with visual impairment, the computer can be used to enlarge an image or text to a measure that suits the child. Speaking of children with special needs, from a pedagogical perspective, computers have certain limitations. Technology works by means of symbols that are often of an unknown origin to an infant with developmental difficulties, so it has to connect their social experiences with computer-assisted experiences.

But I certainly support the use of technology in working with children with special needs.

Those tools are just amazing. I usually use many of them in some of my classes. The most common problem I havae face when using ICT is the investing time to prepare and check activities (teachers´job) and on the other hand, many shools do not have the equiment or internet conection. The same as children at home.

It has been interesting learning about the many different ways in which tablets and other technological devices can be used to support children in accessing learning. One of the pros of using technology is that students feel included and become more motivated due to their ability to participate along with the other students. The use of technology will increase their enjoyment of learning, which in turn contributes to having fun with peers and increased confidence in their own abilities.
The cons are more to do with schools having a budget to provide enough tablets and devices so that students have access to devices whenever they need it rather than waiting for their turn if the device is to be shared.

Personally, I have not had the experience of working with tablets in the classroom. However, by using the IWB with students, similar goals can be accomplished and the students can all take turns to participate and share with the rest of the class.

Tablets and laptop are effectively a great tool for SN but there might be some contraindication for kids suffering from epilepsy. Sometimes we cannot use them. Otherwise there are many app that are convenient for SN: Quilt, Kahoot, Plickers. Working on Etwinning projects is also wonderful for inclusion. Working in expert group is also a good means to make everyone work together according ones needs.

I think that technological and digital tools can be very useful if they are used to compensate disabilities and to maximise abilities. I have an interactive whiteboard in each classroom and I think it's very useful. I'd like to have tablets, too because I believe that technological and digital tools are very useful and motivating for the students. They are also a great aid for SEN students but, on the other hand, I think they can't become a "substitution" of the teacher or the only way of learning. So you may save time. But only using the same tool is not effective. Students shouldn't sit in front of a screen for long hours. It may make them passive or cause health problems. Technology seems to be a good way to create tools for SEN children, once we can have multiple resources available and adapted to the needs of different children. But we also have some children that need to improve on their social skills and here I don't think the technologies could help. So its urgent to think about ways to connect children to each other, to build real connections with affective value. In my opinion this can be done through emotional education, using flashcards with situations they have to solve, songs about emotions and its expressions and stories (I really think stories can reach a big amount of children!).

Resources for augmentative communication: the Plaphoons (free), SpeakingDynamically (pay), Arasuite (free), Adapro (free) or PTMagicContact (free). GRID (Pay) is an excellent program for augmentative communication, it has options for the needs of the majority of users with regard to access to the computer. In our school we use Kahoot for vocabulary and grammar quizzes. We initiate discussions through TEDed. We use tablets to revise through a variety of applications. I thingk that nowadays these tools are so important to make teaching really inclusive, this is the second year that I'm teaching english at the primary school and I've seen the differences between the classroom when I worked with ICT and the ones where there wasn't this possibility. The negative aspect is that, not all the scools have got adeguated placec and tools to work in this way, for example this year I work in two different schools, I have 8 classrooms and I have LIM in only one classroom, in the others 7 I have no computer, no ICT tools, how can I work in a more inclusive way if I have not the basic instruments?

I frequently use Padlet and Learning Apps. I would like to mention that ICT applications are very useful to pupils and especially pupils with SEN. But they require a lot of time and creativity from the teacher. Also, the time allotted to ensure that material is traversed limits the frequency with which these applications can be used at course time.

I'd love to use these tools and resources. But in my country, it's hard to use a tablet in kindergartens . In addition, schools have access to only the ministry approved sieves and online applications. This problem is not just for these kids but for all children.

I use a lot of digital tools in my classroom . My students with cerebral palsy constantly use tablets and laptops but all other students as well. I always use edpuzzle (I described it in my previous post and am willing to explain it more if needed) but use storybird too, padlet, kahoot, edmodo etc.

I have used the electronic book with a student affected by autism who had difficulties in speaking and social relations. For her last year exams in the secondary school I helped her to fill it in with pictures of her school career and captions. She was very happy to make this work and very proud of it.

As I have the possibility to use a smart board for my lessons, I make a large use of ITC in class. I have students watch videos about grammar, vocabulary or culture (I teach Spanish) and do interactive activities or games. We also allow students to bring their own tablet to school so that they can use the digital version of our textbook. This has turned out to be very helpful, especially for SEN students, as our book is provided with many extra resources and useful tools designed for students with learning difficulties. For example, they can take notes or fill in the exercises by recording the answers. As I only have two hours of lessons per week in each class, this year I have created virtual classes, as an extension of our real class, in order to share with my students extra materials about a specific lesson content, such as songs, cartoons, videos, mind maps, and so on. I also use Edmodo. I think that ITC greatly improves everyday teaching. The only con is, in my opinion, related to the use of tablets in class, especially if they are connected to internet, as some students might not use them for didactic purposes, surfing the net while they are not seen, or making photos or videos of their classmates/teachers and posting them on the web.

For students being affected by autistic or mutist conditions, talkers can prove to be helpful tools. Picture communication is a vital way for those with special needs to communicate, and it is a portable, flexible tool that can be used by them wherever they go. Since last school year, I introduced virtual learning to all of my students, SEN students included. I use Edmodo where I post/ upload material that can me explored and learned at home and in the classroom we practice and explain what they didn´t understand by themselves. I use Padlet, Canva, Kahoot, Learning App, Quizlet, Interactive Worksheets etc. Students are also encouraged to help each other in virtual classroom as well as in real life situation. My SEN students like to work on tablets in the classroom because they can practice the material in their own pace and the results are visible only to them at first (on the screen). They can also practice at home.

I believe that what they have been able to achieve in Italy is amazing. I have taken notes of the applications they have used and I propose to use them in my class with an autistic child. As for me, I often use technology to improve attention and learning possibilities even with able-bodied students or with students with slight learning difficulties. One of the sites I often use with children with greater difficulties is learningchocolate to learn words in English. I also use Padlet, PowerPoint, Canva and Spark.

In Portugal, we are taking the first steps towards a true inclusive classroom. ICT is used in the classroom - computers; interactive boards, Web access - and we have the ICT Resource Center (CRTIC) that provides technological support and training to schools, aimed at students who may need adapted devices or specific programs. But as we are taking the first steps in the inclusive classroom - despite having knowledge of good practices at the 1st cycle and preschool level - we have not yet come to this patarmar of inclusion as it was possible to appreciate in Italy. But I think we'll walk there. Now, students have to spend the most hours with the class group, and I hope the reality I saw in the video of the Italian school, is common, in a short time, to Portugal. From mine, I will do everything to make it so, because I believe in the benefits for all of the DUA and the great contribution of ICT in the access to knowledge.

In our school we have that luck that students in some grades all have tablets. That is very challenging for me as a teacher becouse I have to figure out how to use them and which digital tools to use in order to achieve certain outcomes. Except wizer, edmodo, Kahoot, Powtoon (that I use), I would like to use tablets for student's learning, not only for recaping and design my lessons in problem solving way but I'm trying to figure out fine measure to assigments to challenge everybody and include their learning styles. We don't have tablets in school so I ask students to bring their mobile phones (if they have them) to do some digital activities. I also write exams on mobile phones, I use Socrative as a tool. Students like that very much, they do quizzez and video based tasks (Learningapps) regulary. We are getting there... so far only teachers have tablets in my school, we have two smartboards usually used by Maths teachers…other teachers have to sign up for using them….I usually use projector for videos and materials available by publishers.

In relation to what I could see in the different videos, of what was presented I only used in augmented communication with a student of severe cognitive impairment.
Presently with my class I use the plikers https://get.plickers.com/
which allows everyone to be evaluated and in real time to be aware of what they already know and what needs to be consolidated. Since he does not use the written answer on paper he becomes an asset.

Smartphones are not allowed and tablets we do not have. We use small portable computers that exist (Magalhães) and allow one to work in pairs. However we have a great limitation, because the internet line is weak and with ease we are without network.

I sometimes use interactive boards or regular computers with a OHP, depending on the school I work in (and how well they are equipped). My students don't have tablets at school. Some of them don't even have computers at home. I believe it is a great way to help some children (especially children like Roberto), but some children show great progress in inclusion with other children in activities such as singing, dancing, etc. So I think that it is important to find a balance in using both ICT and some other ways of learning. If we used only ICT in learning, our students (especially young ones) wouldn't have the opportunity to develop some other skills (e.g. motor skills).

In the previous videos, technology seems to be really important and I agree in some way. Nowadays, tablets and I-pads exist in the daily routine of all students. It is a fact that there are too many applications that help students and people with SEN. So, teachers have to use them in order to facilitate students to feel part of the school team. But I think that it is better to use more than one tool for learning, so that students feel more flexible and more capable. The biggest problem with the use of digital tools is that they are all customized in the English speaking area and there are very few of them in the Croatian language. Also what I find a big problem is that children spend too much time in front of various monitors. This could be a problem for most students with disabilities: from those who have motor disabilities to those who have problems with sensory integration.

I use Web 2.0 tools such as Storybird, Storyjumper for creating a collective e-book in English for English classes. I integrate coding with English by using SCRATCH which a coding application where students can code by having fun. I've recently stated using Animaker in which my students can create their own animations, cartoons and add audios in English to the characters. This has helped my students to like English classes more.

I use Padlet, Beekast, Edmodo, Genial.ly, Socrative...and many other online resources and apps, but what I find more difficult is to adapt the content to the different needs of my students, and to make all my students work on the same topic although at different levels (Blooms's taxonomy)
I think that integrating ICT in the classroom is ok but it is no the solution since changing the format is not enough.
I am currently working with a group of 19 students with 2 SEN students, 2 students with learning problems, 4 students expecting to enter the vocational training and the rest of them aiming at university. I want them to work on the same topic at different levels but I find it really difficult, especially without any help.

I use smartbord in the classroom and sometimes we use smartphones. I've been creating digital materials for quite a long time (since old hot potatoes). I've tested lots of tools and apps, used some of them and finally bought one because free online tools are not always reliable.After some time you have to pay for them or you have restricted number of exercises/materials you can create. We've been using Quizlet and Padlet(not completely free now!) and we find them very useful. I create online materials and have a virtual classroom in Moodle which children can use in the classroom and from home. It's very helpful for SEN students. Although I find ICT very useful I think we should plan carefully how to use it, especially with younger students.

It is very helpful to use technology with SEN kids as there are various applications for tablets and other devices. I know a kid with CP living in another city. He wasn't able to write with pencil on a paper but he was surprisingly good at using a tablet. Now, he knows how to read and write and gets the highest grades in the exams. It is important to make a research and find the tool that is most suitable for that kids' needs as in Roberto's video.

I find many similarities with my experience in the second video. I often make my students tell a history lesson or a story (in italian) to a 'Tellagami' app or through an Adobe Spark video. I find it very useful and I think it overcomes the barrier of shyness, for example.

I think tablets are very useful for special needs, but it is also important that every student learn how to create knowledge trough these devices because I think it’s an important ability that nowadays is required in our society. So I see many pros when these devices become didactic tools, but sometimes few activities can be realised just with paper or in an analogic way. It is important to use technology when it actually can give something more to the students, and not only because it is technology.

Without a doubt, technology makes it easier to work with SEN students. In fact, technology makes teaching inclusive, as it is said in the video. Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to use this technology in our school, it is very common that children do not even have it at home.Since the beginning of this course I have heard of a number of useful applications and technology that can be used for inclusive teaching. So, I've learned a lot. Particularly interesting applications for student collaboration are Padlet. For learning, I like Kahoot, for images and videos Adobe Spark and Pic Collage, for recording voice Tellagami. Unfortunately I have not used one of them until now, which is very frustrating. As in our school most of our SEN student do not have assistants. I have not used a tablet. I am curious how the other children would act when another child uses something different. However, the use of a tablet would be so helpful for child. My student who struggles with reading and writing. She could do matching activities, listen to the words aloud. If I have an assistant for this child maybe the students would be more accepting of her using a tablet. I should try and see.

At the learning support center, we use Office 365 Apps. The students love working with the following applications: YAMMER, SWAY, POWERPOINT ONLINE, TEAMS, ONENOTE, ONEDRIVE, PLANNER.

The Portuguese School is in my group of schools so i'm very familiar with this subjects, and have already worked with Fernanda and Manuela from CRTIC PORTO who do a fantastic job in searching and adapting IT tools for SEN students. Tablets are very useful tools for special needs: the disabilities of those two case in the videos are so serious that technology is the only way that allows them to write or to read. Anyway it’s also important that the students learn trough these device and they improve their abilities for create a knowledge. The use of technologies is of course a great help to facilitate the learning of children with special needs (and other students) because it provides them with tools to be able to learn and comunicate better and show what they know. An example of this is the study case of Luís who, having issues with fine coordination, is provided with a laptop. However, most pupils and schools don’t have access to this kind of technology and so most of us can use other kind of materials that also works like flashcards and letters printed out. Of course that in very severe disabilities technology is the only way for children to comunicate but, fortunately, in most cases, impairments are not as severe as that. For teachers who have computers in their rooms and for pupils with reading, writing and sight disabilities and coordination issues computers with Windows are eqqiped with tools like the “magnifier”, “narrator”, “on screen keyboard”and “voice recorder”. Also, the “spellchecker” on Word and the software “Grammarly” (https://www.grammarly.com/signin?afterLogin=1) can be quite useful to pupils with reading and writing disorders.

As far as I can see in this module the target students are very young. I have older students, between 12 and 18. Of course I use apps (kahoot, quizzlet, socrative, paddlet....mentimeter) with my students but how can I include SEN students? Apps don't seem enough... in fact the students with "less" abilities are separated from their natural class and do a separated curriculum. I can clearly see the benefits of using ICT, however, I don't think old fashioned, traditional methods should be forgotten since children, especially young learners need to develop graphomotor skills more than anything else. There are good sides to using ICT, but there are also bad impacts if we overuse ICT, some of which we are already aware of, but some of which yet have to be detected in the course of time. My students don't have tablets but I often bring my own one so they use my tablet or their smartphones. I use Padlet stotyjumper, Powtoon, TesTeach.

I think that technology helps in the education of special-needs students.

For example, applications such as Google Classroom help teachers to create more customized lesson plans for SEN students as well as determine how technological devices and software applications can better be used to assist them in their instruction.

Besides, text-to-speech (TTS) software can be used to help children who have difficulties reading standard print. Some of the reasons a student may have difficulty include dyslexia, a visual impairment, or a learning disability. TTS technology can also be used to assist children with autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Intel Reader is another good tool for SEN students: this mobile handheld device uses TTS technology to read printed text aloud. It is equipped with a high-resolution camera and can capture printed text and read it back to the user. The reader also highlights words as they are read aloud and can spell words for students as well.

In Portugal some schools have smartboards and tablets, but others don't. There teachers have to be more creative. In one case or the other all classrooms are equiped with at least one computer, where we can develop with SEN studentes interactive activities, search information and images on the internet and make learning and assessements more interesting and creative.

In our school we use different technologies and methodologies.

No doubt that technologies can be a great help, especially with SEN students, the only down side to it is that it dicreases the human contact, and the children tend to be more addicted to the technologie. So as with everything else the use of technologie as to be balanced.
I encourage more the outgoing experience, for example if we are talking about trees then we go outside to an area that as trees.

My SEN children work with materials and tools tailored to each one. The tools are varied from traditional to modern (planes, books and special notebooks, notebooks, emotional development programs).

With our students with SEN, we also use tablets and computers, and we use the same programs that have already been mentioned, such as Kahoot. However, with the severest SEN students, we refer them to the ICT Resource Centers so that their specific educational needs can be assessed. From this evaluation, CRTIC teachers propose ICT and the most appropriate programs or interactive games for students. Unfortunately, many of the interactive games are very expensive.
We also have Resource Centers for Inclusion (CRI), which work in partnership with schools and have technicians who support students with SEN and who lack many of the educational games.
ICTs always generate enthusiasm among students with SEN and adhere with more interest to the proposed activities, achieving success in their learning.
ICT is undoubtedly an asset in the educational process of students with and without SEN.

In our school, we didnt use any gadgets in teaching unless if they really need it. What we do is, were doing an outdoor schooling instead of using computer. We do planting, shark releasing, playing educational activities, painting. We are using only books, pencils, pen, and papers in teaching.

I use a lot in sensory material activities and I see joy in the face of children, because they have the opportunity to explore and express themselves freely. The use of Ipads are something i have seen a lot of either using it for games to keep occupied or as an assistance tool for speech and learning. In physical therapy there is many different toys and tools that we use to get children to complete the task we want them to do. We can turn any toy into a means of rehab.
