         <description><![CDATA[<div>As for the&nbsp; tools I heard about, I have already used and keep using most of them, namely:&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Team work</strong>(and pair work, which I also use quite often):</div><div>Pros: it allows students to develop interpersonal skills, promotes personal autonomy and active learning (students choose how they learn, which contents they learn, and they actively participate in their learning path);&nbsp;</div><div>Cons: no significant ones.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>ICT </strong>(like, using tablets, producing videos, using a recording app (like, Tellagami), pics or drawings (like, PicCollage):</div><div>Pros: ICT can definitely work as an inclusive tool, and they promote equity.</div><div>Cons: no significant ones.</div><div>Notes:&nbsp;</div><div>I had never heard about Tellagami. When students do some recording, they usually use their cell phones.</div><div>One other remark, many schools are still not equipped, so as to provide students with the chance to use tablets, others do not allow the use of tablets or cell phones in the classroom.&nbsp;</div><div>As inclusive/equity tools, I have also already uses apps like “Kahoot!” (good for creating quizzes), “Autodraw” (it recognises what we draw and suggests ideas), “Flipgrid” (video making), “Padlet”, etc. You can, of course, find lots of apps, for a lot of purposes. But I find this site especially useful: https://learningapps.org</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Simplified curriculum (SC):</strong></div><div>Pros: this is something we often do at school when we have SEN students; an SC&nbsp; helps us to create more flexible environments; teaching strategies and learning tasks, assessment processes and materials are adjusted to support all learners and minimise learning barriers.</div><div>Cons: no significant ones.</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Technology in work greatly helps students with disabilities because they can express, work, and learn in situations where their abilities were previously extremely limited. Autistic children use a visual schedule of activities and their images of day-to-day tablet activities can greatly assist both in planning activities and in expressing some basic needs. <br><br></div><div>In children with speech disorders and motor disturbances, the use of computers helps to make it more readable in writing and by doing more successfully their tasks that could not be verbally heard. For children with visual impairment, the computer can be used to enlarge an image or text to a measure that suits the child. Speaking of children with special needs, from a pedagogical perspective, computers have certain limitations. Technology works by means of symbols that are often of an unknown origin to an infant with developmental difficulties, so it has to connect their social experiences with computer-assisted experiences.<br><br></div><div>But I certainly support the use of technology in working with children with special needs.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It has been interesting learning about the many different ways in which tablets and other technological devices can be used to support children in accessing learning. One of the pros of using technology is that students feel included and become more motivated due to their ability to participate along with the other students. The use of technology will increase their enjoyment of learning, which in turn contributes to having fun with peers and increased confidence in their own abilities.<br>The cons are more to do with schools having a budget to provide enough tablets and devices so that students have access to devices whenever they need it rather than waiting for their turn if the device is to be shared. <br><br>Personally, I have not had the experience of working with tablets in the classroom. However,  by using the IWB with students, similar goals can be accomplished and the students can all take turns to participate and share with the rest of the class. <br><br>Thank you to everyone who has shared different apps and programs that you use with your students. I look forward to exploring them more over the coming weeks.</div>]]></description>

You can design many activities or use the internet for them. So you may save time. But only using the same tool is not effective. Students shouldn&#39;t sit in front of a screen for long hours. It may make them passive or cause health problems. In my school, we use smart boards and desktops. We play games online or students use smart boards to make presentations. They become more engaged during the lessons.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Technology seems to be a good way to create tools for SEN children, once we can have multiple resources available and adapted to the needs of different children. But we also have some children that need to improve on their social skills and here I don't think the technologies could help. So its urgent to think about ways to connect children to each other, to build real connections with affective value. In my opinion this can be done through emotional education, using flashcards with situations they have to solve, songs about emotions and its expressions and stories (I really think stories can reach a big amount of children!).</div>]]></description>

The negative aspect is that, not all the scools have got adeguated placec and tools to work in this way, for example this year I work in two different schools, I have 8 classrooms and I have LIM in only one classroom, in the others 7 I have no computer, no ICT tools, how can I work in a more inclusive way if I have not the basic instruments?</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> </div><div>As I have the possibility to use a smart board for my lessons, I make a large use of ITC in class. I have students watch videos about grammar, vocabulary or culture (I teach Spanish) and do interactive activities or games. We also allow students to bring their own tablet to school so that they can use the digital version of our textbook. This has turned out to be very helpful, especially for SEN students, as our book is provided with many extra resources and useful tools designed for students with learning difficulties. For example, they can take notes or fill in the exercises by recording the answers. As I only have two hours of lessons per week in each class, this year I have created virtual classes, as an extension of our real class, in order to share with my students extra materials about a specific lesson content, such as songs, cartoons, videos, mind maps, and so on. I also use Edmodo. I think that ITC greatly improves everyday teaching. The only con is, in my opinion, related to the use of tablets in class, especially if they are connected to internet, as some students might not use them for didactic purposes, surfing the net while they are not seen, or making photos or videos of their classmates/teachers and posting them on the web. <br><br></div>]]></description>

I use Edmodo where I post/ upload material that can me explored and learned at home and in the classroom we practice and explain what they didn´t understand by themselves. I use Padlet, Canva, Kahoot, Learning App, Quizlet, Interactive Worksheets etc. Students are also encouraged to help each other in virtual classroom as well as in real life situation. My SEN students like to work on tablets in the classroom because they can practice the material in their own pace and the results are visible only to them at first (on the screen). They can also practice at home. </div>]]></description>

I have taken notes of the applications they have used and I propose to use them in my class with an autistic child. As for me, I often use technology to improve attention and learning possibilities even with able-bodied students or with students with slight learning difficulties.          <title>In Portugal, we are taking the first steps towards a true inclusive classroom. ICT is used in the classroom - computers; interactive boards, Web access - and we have the ICT Resource Center (CRTIC) that provides technological support and training to schools, aimed at students who may need adapted devices or specific programs. But as we are taking the first steps in the inclusive classroom - despite having knowledge of good practices at the 1st cycle and preschool level - we have not yet come to this patarmar of inclusion as it was possible to appreciate in Italy. But I think we&#39;ll walk there. Now, students have to spend the most hours with the class group, and I hope the reality I saw in the video of the Italian school, is common, in a short time, to Portugal. From mine, I will do everything to make it so, because I believe in the benefits for all of the DUA and the great contribution of ICT in the access to knowledge.</title>

That is very challenging for me as a teacher becouse I have to figure out how to use them and which digital tools to use in order to achieve certain outcomes. Except wizer, edmodo, Kahoot, Powtoon (that I use), I would like to use tablets for student's learning, not only for recaping and design my lessons in problem solving way but I'm trying to figure out fine measure to assigments to challenge everybody and include their learning styles. The trouble is that my assigments are still to dificult for some students.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>In relation to what I could see in the different videos, of what was presented I only used in augmented communication with a student of severe cognitive impairment.<br>Presently with my class I use the plikers https://get.plickers.com/<br>which allows everyone to be evaluated and in real time to be aware of what they already know and what needs to be consolidated. Since he does not use the written answer on paper he becomes an asset.<br>As I mentioned in another post I use the educaplay platform, which is free and allows me to create several activities for students to do at home and / or in the classroom.<br>https://www.educaplay.com/<br>Smartphones are not allowed and tablets we do not have. We use small portable computers that exist (Magalhães) and allow one to work in pairs. However we have a great limitation, because the internet line is weak and with ease we are without network.<br>Thanks for the sharing of all I saw that there are several apps that I intend to try.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I sometimes use interactive boards or regular computers with a OHP, depending on the school I work in (and how well they are equipped). My students don't have tablets at school. Some of them don't even have computers at home. I believe it is a great way to help some children (especially children like Roberto), but some children show great progress in inclusion with other children in activities such as singing, dancing, etc. So I think that it is important to find a balance in using both ICT and some other ways of learning. If we used only ICT in learning, our students (especially young ones) wouldn't have the opportunity to develop some other skills (e.g. motor skills). </div>]]></description>

It is a fact that there are too many applications that help students and people with SEN. So, teachers have to use them in order to facilitate students to feel part of the school team. But I think that it is better to use more than one tool for learning, so that students feel more flexible and more capable.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Inclusive technology allows for the use of tools tailored to the student’s needs, accommodates their interests and still enables them to become active members of the classroom. On the other hand, it hints at the need for a team of professionals  who work together and collaborate to make inclusion happen by means of their joint effort and shared project of inclusion of all students <br><br></div><div>Whilst no familiar with the use of tablets in the classroom, as they are not available at school, both videos suggest that a tablet constitutes an invaluable tool to be used in the inclusive classroom. The fact that it allows the student to follow the curriculum, whether by means of the use of apps or other resources, constitutes an undeniable asset to their use.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I use Padlet, Beekast, Edmodo, Genial.ly, Socrative...and many other online resources and apps, but what I find more difficult is to adapt the content to the different needs of my students, and to make all my students work on the same topic although at different levels (Blooms's taxonomy)<br>  I think that integrating ICT in the classroom is ok but it is no the solution since changing the format is not enough. <br>   I am currently working with a group of 19 students with 2 SEN students,  2 students with learning problems, 4 students expecting to enter the vocational training and the rest of them aiming at university. I want them to work on the same topic at different levels but I find it really difficult, especially without any help.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I use smartbord in the classroom and sometimes we use smartphones. I've been creating digital materials for quite a long time (since old hot potatoes). I've tested lots of tools and apps, used some of them and finally bought one because free online tools are not always reliable.After some time you have to pay for  them or you have restricted number of exercises/materials you can create. We've been using Quizlet and Padlet(not completely free now!) and we find them very useful. I create online materials and have a virtual classroom in Moodle which children can use in the classroom and  from home. It's very helpful for SEN students. Although I find ICT very useful I think we should plan carefully how to use it, especially with younger students.<br><br></div>]]></description>

He wasn't able to write with pencil on a paper but he was surprisingly good at using a tablet. Now, he knows how to read and write and gets the highest grades in the exams. Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to use this technology in our school, it is very common that children do not even have it at home.Since the beginning of this course I have heard of a number of useful applications and technology that can be used for inclusive teaching. So, I've learned a lot. Particularly interesting applications for student collaboration are Padlet. For learning, I like Kahoot, for images and videos Adobe Spark and Pic Collage, for recording voice Tellagami. Unfortunately I have not used one of them until now, which is very frustrating. I just made a plan to try to use Padlet tomorrow at my class. All students have their mobile phones, I hope that we will succeed, I hope that everyone has access to the Internet, the  </div><div>Wi-fi in the</div><div>school  is very weak. I consider the tablet as well as mobile to be very useful. I do not think that there are cons when it comes to using technology at the classes, if it is controlled by teachers. All in all, despite the bad circumstances in my school, I hope for progress in using technology. </div>]]></description>

They also search for synonyms and antonyms using their mobiles. Using technology in the classroom allows you to experiment more in pedagogy and get instant feedback, ensuring full participation. Techonolgy resources make learning more fun and effective. However it can lead to distraction. In short are greater the benefits that the losses.</title>

         <title>The use of technologies is of course a great help to facilitate the learning of children with special needs (and other students) because it provides them with tools to be able to learn and comunicate better and show what they know. An example of this is the study case of Luís who, having issues with fine coordination, is provided with a laptop. However, most pupils and schools don’t have access to this kind of technology and so most of us can use other kind of materials that also works like flashcards and letters printed out. Of course that in very severe disabilities technology is the only way for children to comunicate but, fortunately, in most cases, impairments are not as severe as that. For teachers who have computers in their rooms and for pupils with reading, writing and sight disabilities and coordination issues computers with Windows are eqqiped with tools like the  “magnifier”, “narrator”, “on screen keyboard”and “voice recorder”. Also, the “spellchecker” on Word and the software “Grammarly” (https://www.grammarly.com/signin?afterLogin=1) can be quite useful to pupils with reading and writing disorders.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As far as I can see in this module the target students are very young. I have older students, between 12 and 18. Of course I use apps (kahoot, quizzlet, socrative, paddlet....mentimeter) with my students but how can I include SEN students? Apps don't seem enough... in fact the students with "less" abilities are separated from their natural class and do a separated curriculum. I would like to learn strategies not only for SEN students but for their companions to learn to be and work with them.</div>]]></description>

         <title>I don&#39;t work in a school now, and in the time I did, there was no tecnical equipmet to work with students in such a way. Students didn&#39;t have computers or laptops or tablets, and some of them didn&#39;t have smartphones (so that those students wouldn&#39;t be embaresed we didn&#39;t use smartphones). I&#39;m familiar with a lot of digital tools but I haven&#39;t used them in my work with students. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that technology helps in the education of special-needs students.</div><div>For example, applications such as Google Classroom help teachers to create more customized lesson plans for SEN students as well as determine how technological devices and software applications can better be used to assist them in their instruction. <br><br></div><div>Besides, text-to-speech (TTS) software can be used to help children who have difficulties reading standard print. Some of the reasons a student may have difficulty include dyslexia, a visual impairment, or a learning disability. TTS technology can also be used to assist children with autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).<br><br></div><div>Intel Reader is another good tool for SEN students: this mobile handheld device uses TTS technology to read printed text aloud. It is equipped with a high-resolution camera and can capture printed text and read it back to the user. The reader also highlights words as they are read aloud and can spell words for students as well.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>No doubt that technologies can be a great help, especially with SEN students, the only down side to it is that it dicreases the human contact, and the children tend to be more addicted to the technologie. So as with everything else the use of technologie as to be balanced.<br>I encourage more the outgoing experience, for example if we are talking about trees then we go outside to an area that as trees.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>With our students with SEN, we also use tablets and computers, and we use the same programs that have already been mentioned, such as Kahoot. However, with the severest SEN students, we refer them to the ICT Resource Centers so that their specific educational needs can be assessed. From this evaluation, CRTIC teachers propose ICT and the most appropriate programs or interactive games for students. Unfortunately, many of the interactive games are very expensive.<br>We also have Resource Centers for Inclusion (CRI), which work in partnership with schools and have technicians who support students with SEN and who lack many of the educational games.<br>ICTs always generate enthusiasm among students with SEN and adhere with more interest to the proposed activities, achieving success in their learning.<br>ICT is undoubtedly an asset in the educational process of students with and without SEN.<br><br></div>]]></description>
