Minie balls were bullets that were mainly used in the war although they were very dangerous if you got shot and it got stuck in your body! the doctor would have to amputate the shot part or you will just die a painful death! some statistics are the bullets caused 100,000 deaths in the war as the north made 2 billion minie balls for the war.

Ironclads

Ironclads were warships used during the civil war. The reason that they made them was because they we frequently armored and metal cannon balls against metal would deflect unlike if they used wood it would break and sink. Battle of Hampton roads was the first battle that they were included March 8 and March 9 1862. Both the union and confederates had a ironclad and they just went at it it was one of the famous naval battle. The inventor of ironclads John Ericsson made them 1860 Jan 30. Some statistics are, ironclads hold twelve caliber guns one of virginia's most lethal weapons was a 1,500 pound iron ramp protecting it from its bow! How impressive! Also 50 ironclads were used in total! According to, "USS Monitor was an iron-hulled steamship. Built during the American Civil War (1861–1865), she was the first ironclad ..... Each gun weighed approximately 16,000 pounds (7,300 kg) Oddly, these did not depend on their own ironclads. Ruffly each ironclad costed about 275,000$ depending on how much caliber weapons you used. Thats 7,852,972.89 USD today!

the coal torpedo is a iron casted bomb that is covered with coal dust to make it look like coal. Also it was the confederates who came up with this plan of action to stop union steam transportation. Although they rules for when the confederates can use it and the rules are they can only use it when the union is in confederate territory transporting soldiers or military supplies on the railroad. statistics were this weapon was only 4lbs!

Why It Is Important Today

Technology and weapons during the civil war is important today for many reasons and can be proven. One of the many reasons why it is, is because it shaped out our gun control laws and added controversy. According to history.com, "The conflict was the costliest and deadliest war ever fought on American soil, with some 620,000 of 2.4 million soldiers killed, millions more injured and much of the South left in ruin." This means that 620,000 people died and where would those rifles and weapons of the armies go? the weapons would be rusted cause of the condition they are in and been found by archeologist that want to learn more about what the people used, and get more info out there for others to know. No one knows who could of got these weapons and maybe the person that has them could have a mental disability and is dangerous and not smart with their actions using thy weapon. They conclude this war has changed and shaped our entire lives! Did I forget to mention that if confederates won the war none of us would be here living life blessed how we are today so take your opportunities and you them be wise and smart. Thank you, and now onto some of the war technology and weapons throughout the war.
