How to Eat Less Plastic (Pg 15)
Summary:
This article addresses how two different helmet brands designed their products to best protect the consumer’s head from rotational energy when impacted. The MIPS helmet allows for movement when impacted to reduce the rotational energy, where as the WaveCel helmet is designed to “crumple, glide and flex in a crash.” Both helmets tested well when it comes to impact absorption. But, the MIPS helmet tested better when it came to ventilation, which could be the deciding factor when it comes to purchasing since the two helmets are priced the same and have such similar scores in impact absorption.
