Belly Is a 16 (almost 17) year old girl. She has been going to the beach house in cousins every summer with: her mom, Steven, Conrad, Jeremiah, and Susannah. It hasn't been the same sense Susannah Fisher (her moms best friend/other mother) passed last year. They stopped going to the beach house. Mr. Fisher was going to sell the summer house. Conrad wasn't gonna let that happen. He snuck to the beach house and wouldn't answer any calls. Belly and Jeremiah went after him because they were worried he was hurt. They looked for him everywhere, at his college; then they released he was at the beach house. Mr. Fisher came to see why the real estate agent was scared and found them. He made a deal with his Dad (Mr.Fisher), If he passed all his classes then he wouldn't sell the house. He passed his exams and all was well (except the love triangle between Conrad, Belly, and Jeremiah).

I don't want to believe that you're this cruel, Adam." - Laurel (page 232)

This quote is so important to the story line. It shows how much the beach house meant to everyone and how many memories of Susannah are in that house and the emotions it brings up.

This was a pretty good book. I really enjoyed reading it. I definitely recommend it for girls, but it's still amazing. My favorite part was when she only got a slushee for Jeremiah and Conrad got jealous. I'm team Jeremiah.

The Author believes that death affects different people in different ways. The characters in the book show their different ways of grieving in the book. Conrad drinks his way through it. Mr. Fisher grieves through getting rid of the memories (like the summer house). Belly cries her way through it, there are many other examples in the book. The author was really good at trying to show that it's okay to grief and it may seem weird, but it's good to be understanding of others. You might grieve one way and your family another. The book was good at showing that it is okay to grief even when it seems weird.

Dear Jenny Han,

I really enjoyed your book. I thought that it was quite good. I really wish that you would let Jeremiah have a win. He's too sweet not to. I loved the part were you had Belly get a slurpee for Jeremiah and not Conrad. That's a win on his part. It was confusing when it went back and forth from Belly to Jeremiah talking. Thanks for this book. I really liked it and will read more of them.
