In Canada there are many things to call remembrance day, Poppy Day, Armistice Day, and Remembrance Sunday. 
WHY DO WE TAKE TWO MINUTES OF SILENCE?
At 5.a.m on November 11, 1918, Armistice(The Truce Page) was signed. Six hours later, at eleven O'clock, the guns of Europe fell silent. And in Australia, a journalist
(Writes for newspapers) said, "We take 2 minutes of silence to remember the people who fought for us." and it became a permanent thing. Also a king approved it in 1919 on November 7.
