It's important to keep families engaged and the community. We have children for certain school hours and then they go home so we want to keep parents engaged. We have family coordinators that work with our families. Our school is in a tuff community but we still incorporate and engaged our community members and helpers to come into the school and read and interact with our kids. This way kids can make connections outside of school. 

We interact with parents by newsletter, parent meetings, we engage through progress reports, open house, emails, phone calls, suggestion box. We have policy council were parents are also involved. However, we adjust this schedule based of the grade and age of the children. School runs from 7:45am to 3:00pm. We have a easy start to the morning and then introduce 2 curriculum classes, then we offer lunch and recess. Through technology we use projectors to show things to students. We have computer access. We have also given students take home tablets. These are used in case schools have to be closed for long periods of times we can still have class virtually. Parents and students communicate via email through this technology. Having a curriculum in place for our school is beneficial for all school. We are an elementary school. Math, social studies, science, art, writing, physical education and more. We incorporate all this depending on the grade and age. We use different teaching methods, and involve the parents into the curriculum to encourage in home learning. We have goals for students to reach. Children have to reach a certain goals to move into the following grade. There is expectations for teaching and learning. We have different methods of teaching the curriculum which makes it fun. We then have different assessments to asses our children and teachers. 

We do accommodate children depending on their learning needs. Materials are used based on the class and what is available. 

Assessments are done to be able to see how students are doing and to provide proper accommodation or extra support for the students so they can all rise like the mission statement states. We have a diverse way of learning and we are very cultural evolved. We have diversity within the classroom on posters and through books. We have equipped teachers to help students learn. No matter their background or learning styles. We have teachers and staff that work with children that may have a learning disability or a mental health diagnosis. We do our assessments to be able to follow up with our children and know that at their young age accommodations may be needed to help them throughout their school year. It was difficult to think and come up with all that a school may require. All the correct things and support needed to help students and their teacher and the families be successful. 

However, we had so much information that was helpful through the course. Learning about the core standards and the difference between school and learning. Keeping educators informed and up to date. Meeting with them and providing them training so they can teach the students correctly. Some changes might be needed to accommodate the children. 

Creating relationships I learned through the TED talk video. Sometimes we font know what kids go through at home so having a bond with kids' and making them feel safe because sometimes they might not have that at home. Giving them safety. Not having a relationship with our students can make learning more difficult. 

Educating our educators, involving them in the education of our children help them as well make outside connections. 

Throughout the course we gain so much knowledge. The shortage happening in teaching may be because of lack of compensation which is understandable.
