But not all of the houses have big faces on them.

The houses the Kwakiutl live in are made have multiple materials to make there houses they use heavy timber clad with ceased wood planks, there houses are measured 40' by 60' with a 20' ceiling at the central point.

Did you know that the Kwakiutl use stylized birds, bears and whales are offen used to decorate the front of the Kwakiutl tribal house. A fun fact is that they boast about how they decorate there totem poles and houses.

The tools and weapons are very important things for the northwest coast. Here are 5 facts for tools and weapons.

•The tools and weapons are made out of wood, stone, bone, cedar, and more,like any other Native American tribes.

•Their tools and weapons are kind of the same as ours, such as sledgehammers and harpoons.

•Most of their tools and weapons are used for hunting in water and land, and they hunted such as salmon, elk, crabs, bears, and more. Tools/weapons they used for this are bows and arrows, harpoons, underwater traps, dead falls, and more.

•Cedar, which they used as materials for tools and weapons, came from cedar trees(yes, it's wood), and it's used for alot of tools and weapons.

•Bones, also used for materials, was from animals or their dead.

4.)they also wear moccasins.
5.) There headbands are made out of turkey feathers.

These are my five facts about the Northeast Tribe Relion

1.) A totem pole tells the story  of a tribe or family. 

2.) Some very sacred animals to the a Northwest Coast region are the Eagle, Buffalo, and the Coyote. 

3.) Masks were a very 
important part of their religion, because they often performed ceremonies while wearing them. 

4.) Other religious  beliefs are focused on the Raven deity who combined the 
characteristics of human, spirit, and bird. 

5.) Responsibilities include curing illnesses and possessing healing powers, because they could communicate with spirits.

You want to know exactly why they used cedar bark? Well, Cedar Bark doesn't rot and break down as fast as other kind of normal wood barks These trees did great support to the Kwakiutls. They mostly made their clothes out of cedar bark and some other good materials.

Have you heard of the Kwakiutl. That is one of the Indian tribes for the Northwest Coast. If you want to know about the great tribe, if so I would recommend reading this.


I researched on the northwest coast. I figured out that the Indians of the Northwest have jobs for hunting, creating clothes, cooking food, they farm, they make shelter, and they portect their land.

The women do jobs around the house and with their children. The women do things like cooking, farming, and crafting. However, the men do things outside the house like hunting, make shelter, and portect the land.

2. They had endless amounts of these foods and would pull them out by the thousands and could feed their families for the entire year. 
3. They went fishing about 10 times a day or more.
