         <description><![CDATA[<p><b>Where</b>-Researchers said that majority of these fragments come from consumer products that were blown out of open landfills or were tossed out by litterbugs. and only waves carry plastic as deep as 65 feet (20 meters) below the surface.</p><p><b>Why is it in the middle-&nbsp;</b>certain places in the ocean where the waters swirl into natural, slow-moving whirlpools.          <title>What effects does this garbage have on the enviornment </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>It effects the middle of the ocean.</p><p>The animals like birds and fish eat the plastic which they can not digest and it causes them to die. </p><p>Then the  sunlight breaks the plastic down into smaller pieces over time. But, there is still nothing that can feed on these smaller pieces, so they remain floating in the ocean.</p><p>When plastic is broken into tiny pieces it can sink to the bottom of the ocean. This too has its problems, because it can smother the smaller creatures that live on the seabed.</p>]]></description>
