one thing that is similar between Harrison Bergeron and the giver is they both take place in a different world. Also they both have really unfair and weird laws. For example in the giver everyone has to go to bed at the same time. In Harrison Bergeron if your smart you have to wear an ear piece that shocks you every so often, which can prevent you from being smart.Another thing that is similar is they both have a plot meaning they both have bad things happen in the story. So that is what I think is similar between the giver and Harrison Bergeron. One thing that is different is in the giver they don't have any ear pieces in their ears so that you get shocked every so often just for being smart.

What's similar between "Harrison Bergeron" and The Giver is that the both have so many rules/laws. An example in The Giver is that you have to take a pill to dull your feelings, and in "Harrison Bergeron," everyone has to be equal, so you have to wear a ugly mask if you're beautiful (for girls) and you have to wear a handicap for your brain if you're smart so everyone has approximately equal. (I love padlet and used to use it a lot in elementary school, so of course I have an account, just please don't judge.)

I think that "The Giver" and "Harrison Bergeron" are similar and different in many ways. First, both so-called "worlds" have severe consequences and strict rules, that develop on people, which causes all the equality in both "dimensions". They both are different because, in the Giver, it's a pretty safe community, but in Harrison Bergeron, it's not.

What's similar between The Giver and Harrison Bergeron is that they are both science fiction because of some reasons that are similar. They both alter themselves by making themselves handicapped and by taking pills to alter there behavior. They also have un-human characteristics like how people in the Giver talk like robots and in Harrison Bergeron everybody has to be the same. They are also different because in the Giver, they alter there inner feelings, but in the other story they actually alter there physical appearence. They are also different because in the Giver, they make everybody somewhat equal, but in the giver they go all out and make everybody exactly equal.

The same thing is in the Harrison story if you took out one of the beads you would pay a fine and go to jail also if you are smart you must were glasses to give you head aches and were big head phones to distract your focus. The difference is that for The Giver instead of putting you in jail you would be released but in the Harrison story you would go to jail.

Both stories, Harrison Bergeron and The giver are similar, Why? This is because in these stories, they both have many rules, and not alot of independance for everyone in that place. Where in Harrison Bergeron, you would have a very hurtfull sound for people who are smart, thats crazy. Also in the giver, people have many rules, like they cant choose there own job, own family, and you cant be with your own REAL mother. This is crazy to me because both of these stories show that each story, the place that there are in, everyone there acts differently, like there are not alot of choices you can do that are yours and not alot of independance. People cant even be different in Harrison bergeron, everyone in that story is equal, the same. I cant stand living in that place. Also in the giver, people choose your job for you, you cant choose your family, or even stay with them. You cant really have any ideas that you made your self. So in conclusion the similarities about these stories is that no one can really have there own ideas, or think for themselves, its like you are being controlled by, like a jail.

The fact that everybody is equal. In The Giver, most things are equal, they try to make everyone look the same, try to keep everyone at the same weight, everyone gets their families and jobs chosen for them, and everyone has the same birthday. In Harrison Bergeron Everbody has to look the same, if someone looks too beautiful they have to wear a mask, if someone is too strong or too fast they must wear bags of birdshot around their necks, if someone is too smart they have to have a mental handicap radio in their ears that send out a loud noise every 20 seconds that allow them only to think in short bursts and prevent them from taking advantages of their brains. Obviously the "sameness" in The Giver is less harsh then in Harrison Bergeron.

For example: in The giver people who are released the community is not then considered a utopia for them because they are being exiled. In Harrison Bergeron (Spoiler alert!!!) Harisson gets shot to death. If anyone called that societey equal that is crazy
