Why do dogs bark at Sirens?

For most of the time we all believe that dogs bark at sirens because it hurts their ears. But recent studies shows that they bark because the siren is not wanted. Wolves who dogs come from howl at things to go away or to show that they are lonely. So scientists think that dogs bark because they want the siren to go away.

Many people thought that dogs howled at pain and that the sirens were hurting their ears. I learned that this was incorrect and that they howl because of their cousins and ancestors, wolves. Wolves don't bark to communicate, they howl and that is why our dogs howl when they hear sirens; their wolf instincts are taking over.

It all depends on the person's experiences and how they personally reacted to them.

This speech was delivered in a high school gym in North Carolina in 1962. The recording of this speech was played in public for the first time in August of 2019. MLK said " I have a dream" eight times in this speech. Old students listened back to the tape to confirm and they were so glad to have been spoken to by such an inspiring leader.

Their behavior also likely reduces the birds' exposure to things like fungus and parasites in the water.

The celebration of Trick-or-treating started with the celtics. They used to dress up as evil spirits, they believed that was the day the dead and living would overlap. So, they dressed as demons because if they met one, they could pretend to be a demon. Then, the Catholic church adapted it to be all saints' and souls' days. Finally, in the middle ages, poor children and adults would go around begging for alms. Trick or Treating surfaced in the U.S around the 1920s or 30s and then paused for a short time because of WW2. But, all of these events and celebrations led to the eventual celebration of Halloween.

He was working to support his large family. His story stimulates charity and made the world a "richer" place.

Elephants are also unable to get all four of their legs off the ground at once. Which means that they also don't run, but power walk instead.

She studied dark matter's existence and this is a great way to honor her.

Unlike many figures at that time, George washington didn't wear a wig. His natural hair was actually a reddish brown color and he used white powder to give it the look we all see today. He pulled it back into a slick ponytail and kept the sides poofy. However, no one knows how Washington was able to keep the white powder from falling off his hair and looking like dandruff. Their best guess was due to the fact that they didn't shower often, so hair was greasy and the powder had something to stick to.

Beyond the five generic senses we have a sense of balance and the ability to sense heat and time. Myth number two, sugar does not actually make humans energetic and it is scientifically proven that it doesn't affect our energy in the slightest way. Myth number three, people say we only use 10 percent of our brain, but we actually use every part of our brain in split second moments that happen through our day. Myth number four, it's totally false that we lose most of our body heat through our heads. Finally, myth number five, It doesn't take seven years to digest swallowed gum.

The oldest known butterflies existed before flowers

The tongue that butterflies use to sip nectar from flowers is thought to be an adaptation to get food from flowers. This may be wrong though. A scientist then analyzed the structure of the scales. Some were solid and compact, which was not particularly unusual; previous research has shown that this structure was typical of early moths and butterflies, which used mandibles to chomp their food. But some of them were hollow which means that the tongue was part of it's body before plants were there.

As we most know, the Dickensian novella of A Christmas Carol has reached a significant fame and brought about a true impact on Victorian to modern society. This was Dickens's secondary motive when writing this work, while, unbeknownst to most, his primary idea was to raise money to support his family. His family was in a "pinch" economically, and he needed the funds to support them. Although he did not really achieve this goal since he did not make much compensation out of it, he still achieved his second goal, bringing the lesson of the story to all of its readers.

The candy became a staple for those in the war. It brought people joy amidst the depression of war, and they became like a staple energy bar. Since these candies were tied closely with the war they became close to the government. Other candies couldn't be produced during these times but tootsie rolls could because of their close ties to the war.

Every 4 years, we add an extra day onto the end of February. This is because when Julius Caesar was planning his solar calendar, he made it 365 days, which caused discrepancies since it is closer to 365 1/4. A scholar told this to him, and he then changed it to fit this flaw. Things were still a little off, and the calendar was going a couple minutes to fast. To change this, Pope Gregory reset this calendar, placed the leap day on 2/29, and made it so that if the leap year fell on a year ending in 00, and it was not divisible by 40, it would skip the Leap Day. This modified the calendar positively and fixed the discrepancy very well thus far.

These researchers looked in 124,00 corals in 159 different reefs, and saw plastic in every single one of them. Among these materials are chip bags, water bottles, and even Q-Tips. It is estimated that at least 11 billion pieces of plastic are stuck in coral reefs, and it is believed that this number will continue to grow by 40% by 2025. It is still unknown exactly how plastic diseases coral reefs, but experts believe that corals are exposed to pathogens when they are sliced open by sharp plastic pieces.

Wolves don't bark to communicate they howl. This wolf-like response is wired into our dog's heads.

Ocean heat waves are extreme temperatures lasting 5 days or more in the oceans. These have become increasingly popular in recent decades. These waves pose a serious threat to marine ecosystems. These temperatures damage forests, seagrass, meadows, and coral reefs. These species create shelter for many other creatures which is extremely dangerous. Stationary plants are the most affected because obviously they cannot move. However, tropical fish are luckier in the sense they can shift habitats to cool themselves.

In the September of 2019, a wildlife reserve in Kenya discovered a baby zebra with a brown coat and white polka dots. Scientists have finalized that the cause of this irregularity is called pseudomelanism, which causes abnormalities in stripe patterns, but sometimes causes the melanin in the fur not to come out as stripes. Some experts say that the stripes are fly repellent, the patterns making it hard for a fly to find a place to land, but when something happens like this zebra's condition, the efly could land no problem, and exert a disease fatal to zebras. May God help this little equestrian, and keep him from harm.

It's in the name! Microwaves use certain "micro-waves". This spectrum of waves ranges from infrared lights to x-rays. Right when you press the start button on your microwave, it immediately fires a blast of microwaves at your food. This releases water molecules from your food, which vibrate and then create heat that cooks your food. As described in the article, microwaves are perfect when it comes to cooking your food because they exert the exact amount of energy needed to keep your food edible and warm at the same time.

This article shows the story of the man who introduced the idea and actuality of the originally oxygen-filled balloons to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This man was a German puppeteer who combined his puppeteering skills and craftmanship to create large marionette-like balloons for the parade, which started a great tradition of continuing success. It was then developed that after the parade, they would release the balloons into the air and give rewards for their capture, but that stunt was soon stopped due to an airplane accident. The parade also originally ended by stopping in front of the Macy's store, and the unveiling of elaborate window displays, also designed by this man.

Animals such as these could sniff out land mines, broken lines, and also deliver messages. The creatures, of course, also provided moral support, which was very much needed in times of crisis such as WWI. One canine in particular, by the name of Rags, did many important jobs for the Allied forces, and was mainly taken care of and worked with James Donovan. However, after a short career of military service, an incident happened where Rags was injured by shrapnel and exposed to toxic gas while delivering a message. Donovan and he were transported to an Army medical hospital, where he eventually survived while his master failed to. He went on to live the rest of his 20-year existence with a military family who was willing to take in another member.

He fought in the battle of Gudadalcanal and was injured by shrapnel. He fought for a bit longer but was soon detained after his mother revealed his true age. He was given a dishonorable discharge and stripped of his medals. He went back to school but dropped out at 14, got married a year later, divorced, and enlisted in the marines at the proper age. He hurt his back before he could be drafted, though. In 1978, Ronald Reagan restored his medals and disability benefits. These animals didn't just serve as emotional support, but actually carried out many important tasks. For instance, many of these animals helped lug around cargo and materials, some sniffed out bunkers and mines, and some carried out important messages between military units.

I think this is so cool and would love to try it out myself.

On May 16, 2010, a murder themed reality TV show was trying to catch a muderer. After getting a home number from a suspect, Officer Weekley conducted a raid. At 12 in the morning. Little did they know, they were about to enter into the wrong house. Not the house of a murderer, but the house of a family. They threw in a flash bang grenade, that burned the blanket of sleeping 7 year old Aiyana, then proceded to bust into the already unlocked door, and "accidentally" fired a shot that killed the 7 year old girl, about 5 feet away. They said to not know a child was present, though there were toys sitting in the front yard. As the officer, cried on the steps, they pronounced the young girl dead. When taken to court, his charges were dissmissed. He walked free and came back to his job 5 years later. He is still a cop today. And Aiyana is still dead, her family still mourning.

Because of the smaller amounts of new tourists to the Louvre, the vacancies and smaller amounts of people have been one of the main reasons to attract the rats. Sanitation workers across the gardens have been working hard to pour actual poison into the holes that these rats emerge from, which hasn't helped. People in charge of the upkeep of these fields are still working to get rid of these rats, but haven't been successful yet.

It's important to know just because you don't NEED an appendix doesn't mean it's totally useless. Our bodies are full of bacteria, tons of it. The bacteria in our gut helps us digest food, strengthen our immune system, and much more. Bacteria in our bodies helps our bodies fight other bacteria. And if it doesn't... well we get sick, really sick. The appendix acts as a reserve, aa place where good bacteria can hunker down until the sickness is over. Modern medicine has taken care of many of these bad bacteria issues, but your appendix will always be a backup.

For a long time people believed the appendix was a leftover organ from when humanity hunted and gathered. However, it was recently found that it's not what the appendix can do, rather what it can hold. The appendix is where good bacteria can be stored when we are sick. When we get over our sickness the good bacteria can reemerge safely. Finally, sewage systems have improved and made it safer for our appendix to be removed.

But how did it become as popular as it did today? The two founders worked very hard to create the book in the mid 50s and worked hard to get the name out by going to pubs and public places and posting ads all around. Slowly the name got out until they sold an amazing 50,000 copies and over time it got a reputation. Now it is an elite thing to have your name in that book and an amazing accomplishment.

Surprisingly, majority of gray hairs are not from stress or anxiety. It is actually based on genetics. While some of the gray hair could possibly be blamed on stress, the biggest cause is based on genetics. When you are made, two types of pigments are combined, and based on proportions, that is the color of your hair. So a certain amount of pigments can cause one person to have more gray hairs a an earlier age than others.

Trayvon Martin was 17 years old living in Florida when he was killed. He was going back home to his gated community when cops got a call about a “suspicious person”. He was holding a pack of skittles and a can of iced tea from the gas station he had just left. Zimmerman let the dispatcher know he was following him and they said they did not need him to do that. He continued anyway. Nobody is truly sure what happened, but witnesses said they heard a large commotion like arguing, then a gunshot. Zimmerman had a bloody nose when paramedics came and said that Trayvon attacked him. But when they ran the test, it showed only Zimmerman's finger prints on the gun. They checked Trayvon’s finger tips, but there were no signs of Zimmerman’s DNA. They found no evidence of Trayvon taking any part in criminal activity. He was charged with second degree manslaughter but was soon let out on bail. Zimmerman has been found not guilty. Afterwards he has been charged with domestic abuse, selling the firearm he used to kill Trayvon Martin on Ebay, and showing support for restaurants that have the sign “No muslims allowed” on twitter.
