"Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen explores the theme of immortality and it's connection to love. At 2:48 into the song, Freddie Mercury sings. "Touch my world with your finger tips...and we can have forever." This echoes the theme of immortality expressed in THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS. Like the love that will live on beyond death that is expressed in song, Henrietta's life force will live on beyond her death, strong enough to save the lives of millions.

At 1:35 into the song Taylor sings "I'm so sick of running as fast as I can
Wondering if I'd get there quicker
If I was a man". These lines refers to the disappointment and betrayal he feels when seeking support from his own community, only to be met with resistance or even hostility. Despite reaching out for solidarity and assistance, he encounters further adversity.

"Japanese Cafe" by Katelyn Tarver relates to the theme of sexism or classism. The lyrics "swing for the fences/be a good sport/face like a doll... that's all that you're good for" at 0:17 suggests that people are telling the songwriter what she should and should not do because she's female and is nothing more than a waitress at a cafe. This is similar to how people treated Henrietta in, as she was a Black female and therefore did not have as many rights as white people.

"Oh, I'm just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don't let me have any rights..." is one of the lyrics that critically underlines the judgment placed upon people of the female gender and the discrimination that still exists even in modernity.

When in 0:14-0:16 into the song they sing "Doctor said I had to stay a little bit longer and I'll be fine
When I thought it'd all been done" which emphasizes that he believes it would be a little bit longer but instead the doctors don't know what is wrong with him. Which involved more testing like with the doctors kept testing her and ignored her comments on what she felt. This shows how long it takes to resolve or find out what is wrong with someone. Also how being a patient you have to perserverse all the testing and some how make peace with what you have.

I said-a, not today. I got a lot to do. He said, 'that's ok'". This song is about a father and son who can't find time for each other. This relates to the theme of family and relationships in THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS as the father is absent in his son's life just as Henrietta was absent in her children's lives. Although, the father in the song was absent by choice, and Henrietta's absence was not, both had a great effect on the children. Henrietta's children ended up very defensive, tough and aggressive due to having no one to protect once their mom was gone. The son in the song ends up just like his dad once he becomes an adult in that he doesn't make time to spend with his father. Just how his father didn't make time for him when he was younger.

"Immortality" by Celine Dion is a well illustration of the theme of "The Cost of Immortality." At 3:40, Celine Dion is singing "The spark that makes the power grow. And I will stand for my dream if I can." It expresses the idea of how people are giving up their loved one for their dreams. The ambition that is taking over people's heart and the sacrifice of love in order to achieve something has always be dreamt.

These lyrics show that even when Lana Del Rey dies she wants to know if people will still love her. In Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, she unfortunately gets taken by cervical cancer, and she is missed incredibly by her children. Zakariyya is an example of someone who was greatly affected when Henrietta died. He is extremely angry at his father for burying her in an unmarked grave so he can't see her. Even though Henrietta is not alive she lives on through her cells, and is still loved by her family.

At 0:41, it states "Forever young, I wanna be forever young; Do you really want to live forever?". Along with this time stamp, the question appears again frequently in different parts of the song. The repetition of the question "Do you really want to live forever?" underscores the awareness that youth is fleeting. It poses a rhetorical question that suggests living forever may not be as desirable as it seems.

At 1:19 he sings "it's all decided for us." This lyric discusses how unethical immortality is and encourage listeners to follow how life is set out by external forces. Thus, this will challenge these listeners to know there is good that comes with immortality, but also a handful of downsides.

This song relates to Henrietta Lacks because their children think about how they did not have much time with their mother, because so much time has slipped away, and because they were so young when she died.

At 0:39-0:52, the song plays, "Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever?" Lines that I believe resonate with Henrietta are (1:58) "My storm will never end" and "My fate is on the wind." These lines remind me of how Henrietta's "storm" will never end now that she is forever in science and medicine. The last line that reminds me of Henrietta's immortality is 2:22 "I'll make them all remember me" Earlier in the book the Lacks family believes that Henrietta's spirit is still alive and whoever comes across HeLa also comes across her spirit, the line "I'll make them all remember me" perfectly resonates with the families belief.

Give me something , oh, but you say nothing. What is happening to me? I don't want to live forever 'cause I know I'll be living in vain". This song goes with the Lacks' family perspective on the situation of the Hela cells and how the family doesn't receive any credit. When the song talks about life being a cruel existence and giving up any hope for things to get better, it is similar to how the Lacks family are still living in poverty despite their mother's role in science and have lost hope in anybody every getting Henrietta's name right or ever giving her proper credit. The line "Give me something, oh, but you say nothing" especially goes with the fact that the Lacks family is looking for any kind of recognition or correctness in what scientists are publishing about Henrietta but nobody ever gets is right. They don't use the right name, they say that Henrietta donated the cells when in fact she did not, and the Lacks family doesn't receive any kind of profit even though Henrietta's cells have been sold around the world.

"Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen shows the cost of immortality by stating in 1:33 "Who wants to live forever, who dares to love forever". Shows that living forever does have consequences in a way. For example, you can't live forever with people you love. The love you have for them will always be there but they won't be there in 100 years. So the cost is living alone and seeing how our world is changing.

The song "It's My Life" by No Doubt is about finding one's true self and asserting one's individuality. The lyrics show a sense of defiance and independence. In 3:09 the song says, "It's my life, Don't you forget". It emphasizes the importance of self-determination and staying true to one's self. The song urges listeners to take ownership of their choices and embrace who they truly are. Henrietta Lacks had her cells taken without her knowledge and for a long time, many people did not know who those cells came from. The book's main idea is to find out about Henrietta Lacks and her identity, so this song relates to the book Henrietta Lacks.

This explores the concept of identity, or rather, the lack thereof. The "eyes" mentioned is a person, and the lack of a "face" represents emptiness. "Got no human grace" can also represent identity because it means that there are no characteristics that make one truly human.

It's such a secret that I keep, until it's gone, I can never find peace." This illustrates the character's internal conflict and personal struggles. At 0:55-1:02, the song says, "The man upstairs gets it/ So I ain't tryna fix it/ No, I can't hide it/ I don't fight it, I just roll with it." These lyrics highlight how the singer is perfectly fine with his own identity, and how he is compared to others around him. This can relate to the whole Lack family, because they aren't normal people. Due to Henrietta and her cells, the whole family is studied, looked at, and tested for some uncommon symptoms.

At 0:31 the song says "But I don't wanna be the puppet that you're playing on a string... oh I don't know what you've been told, but this gal right here is going to rule the world. Yeah, that is where I'm gonna be, because I wanna be. No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty". This song is from the perspective of a girl who knows who she is, her worth, and what she wants to do in life. This is someone who has a clear sense of themselves. This relates to THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS because a lot of Henrietta's children had trouble finding themselves due to their difficult childhood and the absence of their mother. They had no clear sense of their identity unlike the singer in Sit Still Look Pretty.
