Including the various ordained details, these textbook pages concentrate thoroughly on the main objective of the chapter, which is to acknowledge the harsh reality of the multiple consequences smoking brings upon the human body. The author wanted to showcase the dangers of cigarette smoke using resources from the WHO (World Health Organization), and the CDC (Central Disease center), that are both great resources, which exceedingly validates the text, and which thus brings upon inclusive factuality in the authors critique writing. The author wants to explain to people that cigarette smoke is bad for you and explains near the end how to stop smoking. There were many factual statements in the textbook that used logos mainly as it rhetorical appeal. It was definitely useful since it gave information and facts about smoking cigarettes and its harmful nature. The source helped bring understanding to the topic because it gives a full detailed explanation that smoking is harmful towards human beings. The only bias towards smoking is the fact that people like to do it since it initiates a dopamine in the brain once you smoke. Accessed 1 Oct. 2024.

This article created by gale, part of Cengage Group, shows an overview of smoking and it causes. This article briefly overviews what smoking is and how it leads to disease and addiction like cancer. The author wanted t to make sure to amplify the fact that smoking can cause cancer and that it has mental side effects. The author used logos and pathos in his article to describe how smoking is a leading cause to lung cancer the deadliest cancer. Though the cancer part can be described as logos because it can scare the reader to stop smoking because of the fear that they might get cancer. It was useful towards the article because it showed how smoking really is bad for you. It clarified the topic of this article which is smoking and health because the author tied smoking to various health problems in the article. The only weakness the article has is the lack of explanation of the mental and psychological side harm that smoking brings forth in a human. This article was pretty useful for my topic because it dials in on the cancer component of smoking which is a very scary topic to think about.
