She also hears it moving around under her bed. She calls Jem and asked him how does snake skin feel like and how do they sound. The description that Jem said did not match up with what Scout heard and felt. Jem checked under her bed and found Dill Harris under there. " Do snakes grunt? Things are going good so far and it seems like the Ewell family doesn't really have any convincing stories and the Ewell's keep changing it at every topic. When it was Toms turn, he stuttered a little bit but his story didn't changed and it made perfect sense. Jem seems to get the idea of why They are defending Tom Robinsons. Everyone is rooting for Tom Robinson and waiting for the results. Jem is shaking and waiting for the answer. Scout Jem and Dill get caught by Cal and Atticus so they were sent home and they get to come back if they ate their supper slowly. when they came back they still didn't have an answer. after a long wait the jury and the verdict came back with the vote. By majority vote everyone picked that Tom is guilty. Jem started crying angry tears and Atticus walked out proud of himself. All the black folks honored Atticus with food and standing up for him. Everyone was very upset that Tom Robinson was found guilty when clearly he didn't rape Mayella at all.
