I have enjoyed my three years of study at Liverpool John Moores University, particularly that of my final year which has allowed me to study 4 option modules, of which I was attracted to the commercial areas of study such as Intellectual Property and Media Law.

Work experience placements

During the summer of 2013, I managed to gain work xperience placements
within two solicitors firms in Liverpool; JST Lawyers and through connections
made here, Hill Dickinson. I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering, an
experience that lasted approximately 4 months and one which provided the opportunity
to gain many valuable skills.

Thorntons - Liverpool Whitechapel

I began working for Thorntons in the summer of 2013 and having been with the company approximately6 months became a key holder. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the company to the point in which it is difficult to consider such a job!

Exploring captial cities

I have a passion to explore the various cultures existing across the world. I plan to visit as many captial cities as possible and having visited London in 2013, Paris at the begining of the year, I have further plans to visit Berlin in 2014. I also keep in touch with a pen pal in Australia and learn about Australian cultures via our correspondance. I think its important to learn as much about other cultures as possible and again, is something I thoroughly enjoy!

Creativity

I believe that my part time work and interest in media has encouraged creativity, a skill that is particularly required whilst working in Thorntons. Special occassions are always important to Thorntons, therefore during the Valentines day period I was required to come up with innovative ideas to decorate the chocoalte heart product photographed to the left!

Communication & Negotiation

Through University, paid and unpaid working experiences, I believe I have developed skills that allow me to communicate appropriately in suitable circumstances i.e. dealing with clients in a solicitors firm required different communication to that of dealing with customers in a retail environment.

Particularly due to my subject of study, I have also developed negotiation skills, therefore I obtain an understanding in regards to communicating effectively in order to convince others of certain opinions.

I believe I am an extremely organized person, a skill I
have developed through many areas of my life. In university I have been required to work to deadlines, during part time work I have been required to reach certain targets and recreational events have also required that I manage my time effectively.

Dance

I started dance in High School which lead to my participation in the dance group 'Funkstar'. I danced with this group, participating in many performances, such as the Wirral Show, Rampworx skatepark and many more. I was also selected to be part of the 'senior team' having been successful in audition and was involved in the group for approximaelty 5 years!

Charity events

An aim for myself this year is to take part in more charity events, with my plans at the moment including the Wirral Walk and Race for Life. I have taken part in the Wirral Walk twice in the past and more recently completed the 5K Race for Life in the summer of 2013, both raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Swimming

In order to keep fit I enjoy swimming whether this be at the gym or on holiday! I enjoy swimming and do so in order to gain confidence in the water, as I am not a particularly strong swimmer, but believe this is a vital skill to have.

As a young woman I enjoy reading about and keeping up to date with fashion trends and brands. Upon visiting Paris I purchased my first designer product and have kept up to date with the latest Paris Fashion Week!

I believe that the Thorntons graduate scheme is ideal for me, as I believe I have relevant skills and the correct attitude to achieve that which Thorntons plan to achieve. I have a passion for Thorntons and its products, therefore supporting my driven attitude to achieve the highest standards for the benefit of the company. I believe that the Thorntons graduate scheme is the perfect place for me to grow as an individual and professional, due to the range of oppertunities that I believe to be availible via acceptance onto this scheme.
