P!nk has continued to be a strong influence on me throughout my life, as I got to witness her music, style, and vocals change and evolve beside me. P!nk gradually moved from a rough-and-tumble R&B singer, with a rough voice that exuded power and youth, to more of a pop-punk style during the middle of her current career and progressed further into a pure Pop style in more recent years.

Lin Manuel Miranda is a creator who became influential to me later in life. My first exposure to him was through his musical 'Hamilton', which quickly became my doorway into modern musicals and their production. I studied ‘Hamilton’ in great depth, analysing Lin's incredible production value and a keen eye for detail.

Lin has quite a wide scope of music that he creates. Modern rap is used in his musicals, madrigal-style songs were used in movies like ‘Encanto’, and harmonious chorus songs were written for movies like ‘Moana’.

Melanie Martinez was a strong influence during my teenage years, introducing me to dark-pop. To this day, I do not know any other singers that I, personally, would compare to Melanie Martinez.
Melanie's songs explore dark and themes and topics that are thought provoking, but are presented in an artistic and beautiful way.
Martinez's method of disguising serious themes behind a more fantastical and "childlike" façade is extremely well executed and adds to her already dynamic character.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has been a lover of rap and hip-hop for a very long time, being exposed to it at a very young age. The Beastie Boys had an incredible and whimsical way of storytelling through rap, which ignited the early sparks for Miranda. "Hip-hop was everywhere, and he (Miranda) absorbed it like a sponge. He loved its rhythms, the poetry of its lyrics, and, most of all, the stories it could tell." (Harrison, 2018, p. 9)

P!nk has always been a free spirit and someone who doesn't take judgment from anyone else. Madonna made a big impact on P!nk's character and music, as P!nk saw a lot of herself in Madonna, going as far as to think they were related when she was a child. "I've always been the type of person that followed Madonna like a lost puppy... I swore that I was separated from Madonna at birth. I liked the fact that she did what she wanted when she wanted to do it." (MTV, 2001, Para. 10)
Madonna's electric pop-style inspired P!nk own music and can be heard, especially in her later songs.

'Rent' by Johnathan Larson was a musical that influenced Miranda greatly, introducing him to new aspects of theatre.

Janis Joplin was P!nk's idol and one of her biggest musical influences. P!nk looked up to Janis Joplin throughout her younger years, going as far as writing a tribute to Janis Joplin in the lyrics of one of her earlier songs. "Pink’s favorite track is “Unwind,” whose lyrics are a salute to fireball ‘60s blues-rocker Janis Joplin. As she speaks about Joplin, it’s easy to see why the young singer feels such affection for Joplin, who was another rebel outsider." (Hilburn, 2003, Para. 52)
